@Tsurii Yeah, I don't see the point either if you're going to offer a split evolution to lock them as exclusives in the other game.

Now I think about it though, split evolutions for the starters are very unlikely. We know that Pikipek is #10 in the new Pokédex. If starters had split evolutions, the three starters would take up 12 spaces, that would mean Pikipek has to be at least #13. There seem to be nine spaces left for the starters in the Pokédex, so I don't think we're getting split evo's (unless they are actually exclusive to each game). It would've been neat though.

Aww, it would have been cool to have options. Anyway, I think I know where the wires could have gotten crossed. Maybe there's Alolan forms of Meganium, Feraligatr, and Typhlosion and those got confused with second final evolutions of the new starters. Just a thought.

Alolan Charizard, because doesn't have enough forms yet. We knows Charizard's in the game though..

Whelp, it's a little late for me to make one of these, but I want to share my thoughts on all the mons we've seen so far before the list gets too big and takes up half the forum space.

The Starters; The starters this gen look promising. Going by their first stages and ignoring any leaks unconfirmed, they look pretty ok. I wish they had more detail like body markings so they don't just feel plainly colored, but their overall appearence is pretty good.

Rockruff and Komala; Rockruff is your typical puppy pokemon, nothing too special but it does seem top of the list if not #1 in terms of best puppy in the franchise at the moment, it has a more charming look to it depending on your preference of breed. Komala.. I don't know why it exist, it's just a regular koala, its name even emplys it's just a koala with just one letter addition. It has no defining features that make me look at this and say "oh, pokemon!" but rather just a typical koala with no defining features that differ it from a real world koala, it's not original looking enough.

Pikipek; Another bird, looks cooler than fletchling imo but it got nothing significantly different that stands out currently, who knows it might evolve or get an ability that make it unignorable, and hopefully balancable unlike the gen 6 bird...

Yungoose and Gumshoe; Weird names, but not bad. I don't know if the constant snarly mouth looks good, if it had a frown then ok, but the constant showing teeth just look so unconfortable for it like mega sharpedo's mouth. Its not bad for a design though, mongoose can be vicious and they wanted to show that. Their abilities might make them decent assuming their stats and movepool are good enough to actually scare something to switch. I'm not voting for them though...

Grubbin, Charjabug, and Vikavolt; Grubbin is a grub, nothing more to say, charjabug is basically the kakuna/cascoon/whirlipede of this gen and thats ok, it's design could've been better. I just hate how it's pre-evo looks more of an evolution to charjabug than vice versa.. the design detail difference is pretty big. Vikavolt looks pretty cool, I hope its stats are good. One of the mons on my team.

Drampa, Bruxish, and Cutiefly; They don't really appeal to me but they're good mons for the region design wise. I hope cutiefly turns into something good.

Togedemaru, Salandit, and Bewear; I really wish the pikachu clones would stop.. I know i'm in the unpopular opinion of finding pikachu extremely annoying but in all seriousness the last gen and this gen pikachu clones don't even look that unique, the only things defining is their abilities and typing. Salandit is a bit overhyped, If i had a penny for everytime somebody yelled "stall is dead!" I'd be rich cause not only would that be a dream come true, it's also improbable, yay it can deal with other poison types and poison steel types.. isn't that what the fire part of it is for? Heatran is the only thing salandit can actually do it's gimmick on (as of gen 6) effective and even that has earth power. Atleast it's appearence makes up for it's meh syngery with it's gimmick, definitely an in-game mon I'll catch when I see it. Bewear.. I can get used to it but it just looks so meh, it's got a good thing going for it, not the most detailed thing out there but it's not really meant to be, it's design and representation are reflected by it's detail nicely.. that name though... I think volibear's puns are better.

Mimikyu, Wimpod, and Bounsweet; Mimikyu... looks pretty cool, I like it's design. I just don't like it's story.. "it wants to be loved like pikachu" so was this thing extinct before trainers found pikachus? Kinda the same question.. which came first the unown or the alphabet. If it's meant to be a pikachu clone, this is one I can accept cause it's not just a pikachu, it's something unique that has a pikachu relation. Wimpod looks cool, can't wait to see it's evolution line. Surprised its not the fossil mon of this gen given that it's a triops, but its still cool, definitely a catch but that ability is just annoying.. Bounsweet I got nothing, it's basically cherrim, just gotta see what it becomes.

Comfey, Mudbray, and Mudsdale; Comfey is weird, it's like flebebe.. but worse? interested to see what it turns into. Mudbray and Mudsdale look cool, nothing too special about them but they're good designs.

Minior, Fomantis, and Lurantis; Minior I hope either turns into a solrock like mon or is a new baby for solrock and lunatone. I doubt it since it's rock flying with a unique ability while solrock and luna are both psychics with levitate, but it's pretty cool of a mon. Cool call on making multiple colors for it, wonder how shinies will work with it. Fomantis and Lurantis... oh boy... these two made gen 7 for me, I love them. Their designs, colors, everything looks amazing, I really hope they're good competitively and don't turn into a forgotten mon like carnivine with no usability, something a lot of single grass type suffer the fate of. Solar blade and leaf guard seem to make them super sun reliant and that's kinda hard to manage with a mon that looks to be a sweeping nuker. Idk if Lurantis would be a SD sweeper like virizion, or a burst banded tank killer in the sun while absorbing status. I really hope they give it a reasonable speed stat and a good attack stat, i did the calculations and if it had atleast 110 physical damage, and solar blade is literally physical solar beam (120 BP), it'd still hurt a ton.

Oricorio; Pretty cool, at first I didn't fancy it but now I kinda like it. I legitmately think hidden power rock volcarona would be my main volcarona set from my least used since the idea of something stealing my fiery dances and quiver dances is a bit intimidating. I just wonder if its stats are good enough to carry on it's gimmick or if it'll be like chatot, just a sly bit off from not being outclassed.

Legends; Look pretty ok. Still bothers me the sun legend looks too close to pyroar and it's fire type but I'll get over it. Definitely getting moon version (unless lurantis or something else is exclusive to sun) as the legend looks much cooler to me. Magearna looks meh, it's just a robot diancie is my eyes, it's like asking me which do I prefer, miss fortune or robo fortune and that answer would be the original. Oh I almost forgot tapu koko, he's a biggy favorite out of the new mons, it's body style synergizes so well and looks amazing. I really look foward to seeing his shiny, as well as viability. Definitely an upgrade in design in comparsion to the gen 5 genies. Can't wait to see the other guardians.

(Wow this list was longer than i expected... oops)
TL;DR: nope, read it :^).

oooh, this is fun.

So the leaked pokedex rumors going around just got deconfirmed, we just got confirmed a pre-evo for bewear and the leak says it's a single evolution line pokemon.

Untitled
New fish mon apparently changed form, guess this is like the new zygarde formes.
Untitled
Bewear pre-evo that looks more like a dog than a cub, and also there is a new sandcastle based mon evo line, looks kinda weird.. i guess the klefki of this gen, as in meh design. At the same time its kinda horrifying thinking a sandcastle could bury you alive.
Untitled
Alola Meowth and Marowak, basically deconfirming the other leaks about alola pokemon since they were never mentioned. Meowth is dark and marow is fire/ghost. I look foward to seeing alola persian. I guess cubone remains the same, shame. I really hope GF works on that, they shouldn't just leave pre-evos/evos out of alola, they had to adapt to like their ancesters/parents.
Untitled
New villians, the boss is called Guzuma and the girl is Burumeri according to serebii. Also its teased that next month's corocoro will show off a "secret evolution" to rockruff, kinda interested but at the same time don't know why an evo for a basic mon is this "special" . Perhaps there is some very specific mechanic or rockruff is the new eevee.

EDIT: We're battling team skull this time.

Interestingly the new legends all have glowing skulls.

We're getting so much prereleased info... I hope this game doesn't turn into an oras where everything is revealed and then there are no surprises in game. People hoped for new megas, instead they got nothing new, really hope they keep some pokemon hidden and unmentioned, they already showed a lot compared to previous gens where we'd just know a couple for sure fan favorites, starters, and legends.

Alola Meowth is.... Eh.

Thankfully there's obviously a regular Meowth in the several trailers.

Who knows, it may grow on me.

Also, Gamexplain was right Alola Marowak is fire type.

Good to see Skuntank, Koffing and Zubat are back as the villain tea- wait what do you mean it's not that Team Skull?

The only thing that bothers me is alola meowth isn't any different from a regular meowth besides it's purplish tan and that smug, sneeky, suggestive, purrloin expression.

Alolan Marowak looks awesome! Fire/Ghost type too!

The sand castle Pokemon look cool, and are an interesting concept for a Ghost/Ground type.

Team Skull? They look better designed and dressed than Team Flare, Plasma, or Galactic!

@MegaBeedrill I disagree, I recall when X/Y info was coming out a lot was revealed. And everything else was leaked, like the starter evos... There were only a few mon I remember seeing for the first time in-game, Clawitzer, Diggersby, and Barbaracle.

Anyways, some neat reveals. But nothing special imo. Sandcastle mon is interesting in concept but I think it looks strange somehow, but at least it fits the environment of Alola. Alolan Meowth is boring but if there is an Alolan Persian it could be more interesting. Alolan Marowak is pretty cool, but I have to wonder why would it adapt to that form? I don't really understand the concept behind a regional adaptation that probably has nothing to do with climate.

Team Skull I already like the look of, their designs are much better than Flare imo. However hopefully the villains themselves will be compelling, unlike Lysandre.

Also, can we try to keep leaks/scans and other non-official reveals in spoiler tags in the future? Not really a big deal but it would be nice.

So far my biggest problem with Alola forms is that I want to use them on my in game team, which kinda takes away from using the new Pokemon. I wanna use both Alolan Marowak and Alolan Ninetales!

I think Alola Persian will be the true test. That fish dude looks neat though. I want to see how it animates.

And Team Skull XD. Who wants to bet they're pirates like Team Aqua?

Don't hate me because I'm bnahabulous.

roy130390

I imagine team skull would be something like Da Hui.

I don't like most of the designs that have been leaked, at least until now, but I don't hate them. I 'm quite happy about having more versions of the classic pokemon so that makes up for that, at least for me.

Kinda wish Marowak was more fiery and less ghosty. Fish guy looks pretty neat, I like the concept of multiple fish forming a bigger fish. The rest are all in-between ''meh'' and butt ugly.

Tyranexx

Alolan Marowak and Meowth are both awesome. Hopefully Cubone and Persian follow suit. I'm starting to not mind the alternate Alola forms, though Alolan Exeggutor is still kind of bad IMO.

The new fish Pokemon is okay, but I'm not a fan of Bewear's first stage at all. The sandcastle line is a bit meh, but I do like the ground/ghost combination. I'm guessing there will be some sort of story where the shovels were angry at being abandoned at the sandcastle or something. XD

Team Skull is intriguing, I wonder how they figure into the plot? I hope they behave more like punks instead of pirates. I wouldn't mind having another Team Rocket type of team instead of eco-terrorists.

Alolan Exeggcute should've been a thing; six coconuts with faces. Can I work at GameFreak now?

No thanks. The less I have to see of the Exegg line, the better. It's bad enough seeing one of them again.

I'd like the sandcastle Pokemon a lot less if it was just a pure Ground type sandcastle. The fact that it's Ghost/Ground makes it more interesting. Supposedly it becomes pure Ghost when hit by a Water type move.

The sandcastle 'mon looks neat! Definitely like the design (and hopefully name) over Mudbray / Mudsdale.
