@FriedSquid Hang in there. You are just plowing thru the most difficult part of the game. After that, with a bit of luck, half of the stages can be S-ranked itemless (50%) and about another 20-25% just require a +5 Moves.

Take a look at serebii.net to look for Pokemon with either high HP (70) or that have special abilities (Block Smash+, barrier bash+) and when dealing with them, try to S-rank them and catch them at the same time (trust me, it is less expensive).

If you are stuck with Deoxys, just try to catch it and bring it back to the stage (it disrupts itself, as you might well know).

Emphasizing in special events is OK since lots of good Pokemon (Zekrom, Lugia and Shaymin come to mind) are found there, but every 15-20 stages, you will encounter really useful Pokes, like Deoxys, Florges, Rayquazza, Abomasnow, Mega Rayquazza (260-300); Magnezone, Golurk (very useful!!), Exeggutor (which I haven't captured myself) (300-350), and Rampardos, Unown (useful for Sunday Meowth), Flygon (a Gliscor clone, EXP lvl 34), Gorebyss (Greninja clone) and M-Scizor (351-400). Plus, S-ranking helps get some of the most useful Pokes in the game: Greninja, Coballion, Virizion, Gallade (very useful), Mamoswine (just useful for some levels), Hydreigon (very useful) and Poliwrath (with Eject+).

Good luck!!

@dizzy_boy What puzzles me is that we don't have a single flying mega and both Salemence and Pidgeot have been out for a really long time. One could cite balancing issues but the fact is that flying Pokes are useful against very few types.

Not true. They're strong against grass, bug and fighting types. That's a lot of coverage considering that grass-types are among the most common (along with Water and Psychics). And when you combine the the total number of available Grass/Bug/Fighting types, that gives Flying types the advantage over approximately 100 currently available Pokémon.

Don't get me wrong. I'd love for Mega Pidgeot/Salamence to make their début as well, but to say that they are scarcely useful simply isn't true.

@maceng Thanks for the tips, I will try to S Rank as many mains stages as possible and catch whatever strong Pokes I can along the way (without spending too many coins). There's definitely some useful ones I need to get, like Rayquaza.

With Shuffle, I'm mostly concerned with simply catching 'em all (why I love Safaris), and now that I'm at a point where the Special Stages are often repeats of things I've already caught, now's the time for me to move on to Main and subsequently Expert once I get the S Ranks.

@sillygostly You are right. Still, Fire teams are so much better than any Sky Blast team that anyone could assemble (except for Lugia's Eject+), and are very good against both Grass and Bug teams. So there is that.

It took forever, but I finally got mega rayquaza.

Gave it all the mega candy I had, it's only missing one to max... I hope I don't regret it!

Quite conveniently, I used it to participate in the charizard x completion and did extremely well (first time I go over 100k!). So I I'll be maxing it quite soon.

I'm up to stage 295 with Diancie (295-299 will be virtually impossible without at least an Attack Power, and possibly also a Moves +5). I'm grinding for coins until I can take out the rest of the stages in a clean sweep without needing to spend the rest of the week grinding for coins again.

Without any skipped stages, I'm looking at spending over 32000 coins. -.-

Finally beat Level 300 after a full item run and TWO jewels. -.-
I really hate this game right now.

The update:
Happy Pikachu
Hitmonchan
Alakazam Safari (great, I'm missing him)
Carnivine repeats
Dusknoir, with skill boosters.
Shaymin (Sky Forme), with skill boosters.

At least Scyther and Surskit can receive up to TEN RMLs. o.O

I'm only curious as to how high their AP will be with the maximum amount of RMLs.

And there are lots of useful skills for those looking to swap (Swap++ Aerodactyl!). I've only used one on Suicune so far.

I wonder how many different kind of Pikachu we'll end up having before we have all the other Pokémon available.

I think that Scyther will be useful against an upcoming EB...
Already bagged Happy Pikachu, Hitmonchan, Mission cards 11 and 12.
Mission Card 13, with the Florges' challenge is just too much without items (beat the Aggron challenge using +5 Moves, and DD). I think that the combo of 123 could be achievable in the Safari (I'm missing Alakazam... still).

EDIT: Made a 183 combo on Kadabra(?), got two small exp boosters and 400 coins. Thinking about a full item run on Florges to have it all over with (after I catch Alakazam).

Finished the Safari and the Mission Card 13 (full item run on Florges). Down to 45k coins. Torn between maxing Genesect or Golurk (3 lollipops each), or grinding Meowth some more.

EDIT:Spent the last two days leveling up Pokes (104 maxed and counting). Maxed Genesect and Golurk to level 12 and Yveltal is almost at level 13. Also, maxing Alakazam and Venasaur (at lvl12 to level 15). Only 7 lollipops left.

EDIT2: Yveltal now at lvl15 and Genesect at lvl 13.

Currently leveling up Genesect (SL2) to lvl14, so as to avoid, as much as possible, using items for the 151+ stretch (I really need those MSUs!!).

Just finished the EB. Needed a full item run using Steelix, Genesect (lvl13, SL3), Gallade (SL2) and Conkeldurr, all maxed. 0 Moves left.

Also, needed +5Moves on the last 10 levels or so, but received a skip at lvl195 to lvl199.
