Mega Glalie is so hard to beat! Too bad this game is not made for grinding. Oh well...
I'm on Mega Glalie too! Only tried once though as I went back to catch everyone I missed up to that point. I'm actually surprised how close I got on my first try (got his health down to less than 1/4) but I find that right after I've been close to beating a 'mon the next time goes really badly in terms of combo opportunities so we'll see.
I know! Those glaceons and snorunts are really bothersome, they make my combos go no longer than 2 or 3. I think I'll go to some expert stages to level up my pokémon and get some coins. Hope it works
Speaking of coins, how many do you guys have? I've been very stingy in spending them and have just over 30 000. Seems like a lot but how are others doing?
Wow, I have less than 2500
People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...
I have 210, if only because I keep thinking someday those items will actually help. They never do. I once had 3000 coins, then I spent it on a Great ball that got me up to 70% catch rate...and it didn't work. Did I mention how much I hate the RNG in this game? Because the feeling is clearly mutual...
If it makes you feel better, you actually toss four "coins" to catch the pokemon, one for each movement and another for the catch, so the effective catchability is actually lower than what the number tells you.
I personally consider buying a great ball when you're not given a 100% from it a waste of money.
Beat Mega Glalie today. Lost 10 times before finally beating it. Haven't used items yet (apart from the ones I got for free and one Great Ball). I wanna see how far I can get before finally using them. I have 12 gems now too but haven't decided how to use them yet. I also have 35000 coins ready to be spent when it gets too difficult to play without using items.
I mean, you see how the pokeball rocks three times and then the pokemon is caught?
It could fail in any of those four stages, so you actually have to get lucky four times to catch the 'mon.
I also usually just take the EXP and try again. Unless I'm really tired of playing the same stage. Or getting over 50% is really hard.
I really don't think this is true. That would make the catchability rates extremely low. I think the ball shaking is just for dramatic effect, and it's a one-shot deal.
Because even at 50%, getting the positive outcome of a 50% catch under the conditions you're talking about would only net a capture 1 in 16 times.
A person without a sense of humor is like a wagon without springs. It's jolted by every pebble on the road.
You just need to try and make enough matches to destroy the barriers, combo the falling pieces and hope you still have enough turns afterwards to finish it.
I just spent 800 coins for +5 moves and beat it easily.
I now have all of the main campaign Pokemon except MewTwo Y (only tried him once), and I have 10 Expert 'mons. So I guess I have about 11 more to go for now, until they add more.
This game is called Pokemon Shuffle because your progress is never faster than a shuffle!
This still applies, at least for me...seriously, I think I've only caught 4 Pokemon the first try so far. At least 10 have required at least 5 tries, if not several days worth of attempts (looking at you, Treecko). It's really frustrating. Once I get to 50 I'm done...
Seems like I hit my wall to unlock expert stage 20. I only have 6 more stages to S rank and I been stuck for two day trying to do it. I know Togekiss must be some kind of puzzle since most (have to double check) of the pokemon start in pre-set spots but mega Glalie, mega Gengar, and mega Mewtwo Y are the hardest to even A rank.
I can grind Ampharos for exp but it does take long to level up once you reach lvl 6.
Edit: Strike that Togekiss part. played 3 times and only its evolution stages and itself is pre-set, the others are somewhat random.

@CanisWolfred Don't take this as snide, but I'm surprised to hear how low your capture success rate is. Are you making two matches per move? The vast majority of moves should create a match with both 'mon moved. Your progress sounds remarkably slow unless the moves you're making are just really inefficient.
Anyway, I used that -1 Type gift and disruption on MewTwo Y and
got him on my third attempt with an S rank. Managed to make some stellar combos. Love Mega Gengar. Just waited until there were a lot on the screen and then made a match. Led to crazy damage.
I've captured 160. I still need to get 20-25 that I've already captured into S range.
