I've had a number of Pokémon escape even with an 80%+ catch rate. -.- It's absolutely ridiculous.

Same here. I also have a terrible luck with any catch rate that is below 80 %.

The toll stages not requiring hearts is a good thing but it's still not ideal. I'd rather spend the hearts that regenerate than coins I need to farm.

I played the Groudon stages 6 times in a row, and managed a Skill Booster three times. The first two took my Groudon to the second skill level, but the third one was not as rewarding. I don't know whether the latter skill levels requires more skill boosters than the previous one, but the gauge raised a very tiny bit.

Every time you want to play the Groudon stage, you need to use 400 coins.

One thing: every time I received a skill booster, I managed to at least A-rank Groudon. A ring sound preceded the appearance of a small gift on the low-, left corner of the screen.

Well, after using more than 20,000 coins on Groudon, managed to climb to level 3 on the skill gauge. After that, you need like 15-20 boosters to get it to level 4, I reckon. I stopped.

Catch all the Safari Pokemons, but Mespirt (haven't encountered yet), so I'll be doing a bit of coin grinding in the meantime as well as S-ranking some stages.

I gave the Skill Booster M to Shaymin and has been quite useful on the Groudon stage; also, Groudon itself activated with just a 3-combo twice ( I don't always manage to clean all the Groudons). M-Sceptile is the only sure way to beat Groudon consistently (well, M-rayquazza might be another option).

I did one Groudon run yesterday and got one skill booster so that worked out alright. I read on Reddit and saw screenshots of people receiving two gifts in one try which is pretty cool. I still have no idea what triggers the gifts.

I'm so low on coins though that I'm currently only focusing on getting the last Pokémon on the Safari (Mesprit) as well as the Daily Pokémon. I already caught Torkoal which was pretty easy.

Another difficult safari… and I am NOT looking forward to encountering Mesprit. If I struggle with Mesprit, however, I understand that I may have to use a jewel or two, and I am not happy about it. The catch rates are all pathetically low, and I've only managed to catch Elgyem and Frillish so far (the most common on the bunch -.-).

Skill boosting sounds like a waste of time for the effort involved. I'll probably try to get Groudon's skill level up by 1… maybe 2, but it doesn't sound as if it's worth levelling him up beyond that. I'd rather use my coins for the next 50 stages. I'm still stuck on Jynx though. I regret not using a Complexity -1 on Jynx from the start because I've already wasted three item-runs trying to catch and S-rank her, and possibly a Great Ball trying to capture her. And every bloody time I come one move short of S-ranking that ample-bosomed temptress and I still have to have another go at her. -.-

I just encountered Mesprit for the very first time. I managed to beat it with only 3 moves remaining and somehow managed to catch it with only a 28 % catch rate. I didn't even have to use a great ball on it. Whoa, I got real lucky.

Now all I need to do this week is catch the rest of the Daily Pokémon, do some Meowth grinding and play the Groudon stage until I have boosted its skill at least up to level 3.

@Rikaria Yeah, that's pretty much what I've gathered from the subreddit.

I actually managed to receive two gifts in one play myself an hour or two ago but it was followed by a few runs without anything. I've only received four gifts so far, and I won't be trying it again before I have at least 20 000 coins again.

Sadly that might not be very soon considering the fact that Hyrule Warriors Legends getting the first DLC tomorrow will be keeping me busy for some time.

I think that the Pokemons with the most use for the cookies or skill boosters are PO4+. Those with PO4 and PO5 wouldn't make much use of it (maybe increase the damage). Also, Sleep charm and MindZap abilities are next in my list.

Couldn't help it and spent the whole day playing the Groudon stage. Now it is on level 4 and figured, on average, that I'll need like 80-120 plays (32k-48k coins) in order to fully update him. I have 55k coins and a couple of weeks with nothing in sight (catch all the Safari Pokemons last night), but I prefer to continue S-ranking some stages (did Flygon and Tyrantrum already).

@Rikaria I don't think that there is a method to getting the boosters. Many have stated that they received it at the very start of the stage, is not damage related, etc. The only sure thing, IMHO, is that you don't get it at the last move.

I was thinking of prioritizing sleep charm or similar abilities but I guess PO4+ is not a bad idea either. I haven't used the skill booster yet since I've been meaning to read about which Pokémon is generally thought the best one to use it on.

I don't know why but I've had some terrific luck with catches this week. So far I've caught all of the current daily pokémon rerun with the regular pokeball and with terrible catch rates, and Mesprit was the same. This is uncomfortably unusual for me.

Surprisingly, I was done with the safari in about 30 hearts. It's gotta be the weirdest Safari I've ever had. I encountered Mesprit three times within those, and it was actually Beheeyem that was the hardest catch.

I honestly cannot recommend Darkrai enough for Mesprit, but if you don't have it, remove the barriers on either side at the bottom, to allow a Mesprit to drop down on either side, and pray that the four match gets Sleep Charm. Sleep Charm and Mind Zap makes Mesprit a really easy stage. On the first time I encountered it, I procced Sleep Charm, and it was really easy, being defeated within a few turns, and clicking the normal pokeball shut, so when it showed up a second time, I thought that it's be a cake walk again.

Boy was I wrong. I really get why people have had such difficulty. In a nutshell- just hope that Sleep Charm works, else you may be out of luck...

@Nego From listening to people on both the Reddit and Gamefaqs forums, Sleep Charm is apparently a really good skill to use it on, and the best "Power of" Skill is Power of 4+.

I thought the safari was a lot tougher than usual... then noticed that I wasn't using Giratina. derp.

@Rikaria Huh. Thanks.

Out of the lot, Goad, and the ++s look to be the most promising, Good Luck will make Skill Boosters easier to get, and Cheer seems really interesting actually. I'll be interested to see how that one pans out.

Goad seems purpose built for Meowth. Other than possibly Aerodactyl, I really fail to see why you'd want to bring disruptions forward otherwise... Oh, and that awful Throh challenge...

I hope the various gold changers, alongside the goaders will make like easier for those of you on the mobile version. Hopefully they give Prospector to a middling Pokémon, so it's neither under nor overkill on Meowth.

Prospector could also be useful on Throh or in Victini (except for it's very low moves count).

I just beat Mesprit with 6 moves left with M-Gengar (max) and..., Frillish (1) and Jellicent (1)!! This was on a backup 3DS. Thankfully, Mesprit Sleep Charm activated just in time, so I had very few disruptions. used a Super Ball with 100% catchability.

I can't believe it. I never caught Phione. And it was apparently part of a Safari from which I managed to catch all the other Pokémon? I hate that.

@Nego Same here. I thought I caught it because of Manaphy, as they look very alike.

I feel like not playing this game anymore. It's one thing that they make re-runs cost coins to play but it comes bad when they use that model to new stages which are practically impossible to beat without items. I would understand it and tolerate it if they let you play the level first time with a heart so that you would get a feel about it and know what you should be doing but now it's just annoying.

It all just feels like a complete waste of time right now. 400+ hours down the drain all thanks to one update. Bleh.

@Nego Usually, one heart means 300 coins. Also, these new stages are far in between so I don't feel the crunch. Also, consider that "angry Pokemon" scheme saved everyone a ton of hearts and coins.

What I can really stand is Ash-Greninja stage: my fail rate without items is like 67% so it won't get skilled.

Don't despair: the new upcoming abilities are sure to bring a very much needed gust(?) of fresh air to Shuffle.
