I don't know what team you are using, but you can't go wrong with M-Lucario, Heracross, Genesect and Gallade. Haven't repeat a single stage (I'm at level 150). Except for Gallade (level 9), all of them are maxed and Lucario is fully candied (it means I have given it 4 candies, so it can evolve faster).
Instead of Lucario, M-Heracross and M-Medichamp are solid choices. Other Pokemons that deal special damage like Keldeo Resolute form (the red one, Fighting type) makes a lot of damage when you make a 4-combo. Also, Machamp is very good as it "ejects" from the field both Darkrai and Cresselia, that appear after level 50 (just one Poke at the time). If you are planning to go beyond level 100, I suggest that you have a fully leveled Pokemon team, or at least, at level 8.
M-Lucario is very useful so you might want to feed him the candy you just acquired.
For general layouts of the levels, as well as rewards check Rikaria's post (number 1792), which will take you to a Miiverse page with lots of info. Just be sure to check all hidden comments.
@maceng Thanks for all the info! But, unfortunately I don't have many of the Pokemon you mentioned yet, like Megas for Heracross and Lucario, Keldeo, Genesect, Gallade, Medicham, etc.
I'm fairly new to the game so I wasn't able to catch those if they were earlier events. I am however grinding to beat M-Heracross so I guess I should do that soon and get the Mega Stone.
I don't know if it's a bad team but so far on Darkrai I'm using M-Gengar, Lucario, Machamp, and Conkeldurr. It got me to Lv 50 fine, not sure how much farther I could take it but it's all I have for now.
@FriedSquid: Did you have to use any powerups for level 50?
It is not a bad team: i myself used Conkeldurr and Machamp for the first 85-95 first levels, I think. I was thinking about using M-Gengar, but the thing is that the metal blocks tend to pile up pretty quickly. Another underrated Pokemon is Swak, with the power of 4: when you match 4 of them, the damage increases like 33%. Also, as you are using M-Gengar, who helps achieve combos, Mienshao is quite useful. Pinsir (Power of 4) is another useful, but not spectacular, Pokemon for this escalation, and it is even better than Swak..
By the way, Genesect and Gallade appear on the Expert levels: 21 and 29, respectively. Another Pokemon worth considering is Xerneas, the strongest that can be used against Darkrai. He appears on the Expert levels, number 18.
Yesterday I beat Darkrai. It was a steep coin-drainer as from level 181 upwards I had to use a +5 Moves. yes, I finished quite a few stages levels with 5, 6 or 7 moves left. Level 200 seemed harder than last time. Didn't use Complexity -1, but DD, MS, Attack+ and +5 Moves..., and a jewel.
Used a team of Squirtle(max), Gigalith(8), Terrakion (5) and Garchomp (max), no items, and managed to be on the top 3,000 on Charizard's competition. Terrakion's PO+4 is really, really useful. I'm shooting for a 65k plus record with all items as soon as I maxed Terrakion (now at level 7) and Gigalith (still at level 8).
Yeah I'm about 40-50 main stages behind by now and my coin supply has been tragically low for a while now. I wouldn't mind a break from the special stages so I can go back and catch/S rank everything.
Wow. I got Houndoom to show up. Had a 32% chance to catch it and missed. Spent 10,000 coins on 4 Great Balls at 64% chance. Missed all 4 times and he ran off.
And this Safari is proving to be ridiculously difficult. I can't even beat the stages half of the time. (I'm using an all Block Smash+ team, which isn't performing much better than my earlier all-Rock team).
I have now set my team up basically solely to catch the 2 with ice disruptions. I've only seen one of them once (the one that is supposed to be pretty common), but I've seen the other one 3 or 4 times and haven't come close to even beating it yet let alone catching it. Also, Hoothoot won't be caught, so there are still 4 more I need to get.
