Topic: Play Coin based games in the e-shop?

paburrows

I recently got all of the hats on Find Mii 2 and all of the puzzles finished except for the pink pieces in the Mario Tennis puzzle and have to say that I'm kind of going through withdrawls. I know that its not Nintendo's job to give us new free stuff every month, (hoping that we get Find Mii 3 around E3) but I was thinking that it might be cool if a 3rd party or even Nintendo created some coin based games and sold them on the 3DS e-shop. Not sure if I would pay for Find Mii 3 (although with my withdrawls I might) but it would be cool to see what Capcom or Konami or another company would do with something like that, While we are at it, it would be cool if Nintendo would make a special additional paid download where you could put animal and monster parts on your Mii's in Mii Creator.

Block factory makes you spend 10 play coins per hidden background/block type. That could take quite a bit of play coins to do. But besides that, there aren't many other Eshop games that uses Play coins like that. I hope some of the future games add that stuff, though.

No. Play coins should not be anything like Arcade Tokens, in which you put play coins to play the game.
I would have no problem if they were free however.

At 10 coins per day? Heck no!

Yeah, I would be all for it if the Play Coin system weren't so stupid. There is no reason to limit a user to 10 coins a day, 300 total.

They need to abolish the limits. I would've gotten 60 play coins yesterday from walking around with my 3DS in my pocket and I only had it in for 3 hours. At that rate I should have the 300 amount in less than 3 days.

My SD Card with the game on it is just as physical as your cartridge with the game on it.
I love Nintendo, that's why I criticize them so harshly.

No, dear god no. Keep play coins for what they're used for now.
If you're getting lots of play coins and dont know what to do with them then download Swapnote.
Buy new backgrounds and it'll act as your own personal Play Coin vacuum.

Actually, using play coins to play arcade machines within games (like with The Sims 2 for DS) sounds like an incredibly cool idea to me.
Of course they would need to be "nice extras" and not the focus of the game.

Play coins are a little bonus for 3DS users, and that's what they should remain. Right now you can get 10 a day, but if a game was released solely on play coins, many people would just start changing their 3DS dates and getting hundreds of coins on one day, which would defeat the point of it and lead to wasted time needed for actually playing your game - especially considering those play coins can be recieved by simply waving the 3DS back and forth, also defeating any point of making people go out for a walk, either for streetpass hits or the playcoins. It simply becomes a literal grind in order to play your game - which we definately do NOT need.

I think paburrows means going to the eShop and downloading a game with play coins.
As in:

Mario's Walking Adventure

Cost £1.80/ 200 play coins.

Walk in Mario's world. Wow!
Get gifts by walking and transfer
them to other Mario software titles!
(Purchase with Play Coins)(Purchase with eShop funds)

I like this idea, it's great, it will also make people fit. (If they don't cheat.) Please remove that limit or change it to 50 Play Coins, Nintendo.

Do you want Nintendo to end up like Hudson?

There is a fundamental flaw in this. If you meant to imply pay with EITHER money or play coins then theres a serious issue - Nintendo arent getting any money (why would ANYONE ever pay for anything when all they need to do is shake their 3DS about to pay for it?). If you meant pay with both, then again it just means people have to shake their 3DS up and down in order to play a game. A game that must be payed for with time and physical effort will not sell well.

Nintendo would get no profit, consumers would just get annoyed at the effort they have to put in to play their games, and people who actually walk around to get those play coins will just fall behind all the people who use the 'shortcut method' or cheat by changing the date.

Considering the play coin limit is 300 and 10/day, this seems very counterproductive. You'd have to cheat or walk for 20 days to get the game.

I did mention changing the limit perhaps to 50, or cheaper games.
The actual money tag is for people who ar too lazy or just don't want to wait 4 days. (If the limit is 50)
Also, haven't Nintendo given away free stuff in the past? And anyway it won't be for all games, just some.
Therefore it is not a loss instead an alternative currency that keeps you fit. And who said you have to, you either buy it or walk it. Choose your pick.

The only way that would work its if the "play coin" apps were only buyable by using play coins, so it would be more like unlocking new things than buying new games.

Actually I just ment that Nintendo would create more Find Mii type games where you pay something like $2 and download an adventure thats similar but different enough to Find Mii that requires Coins to play. But I like your idea also.

Like for instance if Capcom were to take the Find Mii game idea and replace the Mii's/villians with Megaman and his bad guys and add a few other new play mechanics to make it their own original game would be awesome. Or Konami with Castlevania characters or Nintendo itself making a Zelda edition of Find Mii or even Mario.
