@Romulux: It's a remake for sure. According to Nintendo, they have redone the item selection screen. As for the started from scratch, it's quite possible.

@romulux: When the framerate is so choppy and the textures are so blurry that I can't play the game without getting a headache, it's worth complaining about. I'd hardly call blurry textures "style". I think they can easily retain the aesthetics of the original without having the technical quality suffer for it.
Now I'm sure they'll improve the framerate (which alone will improve the game immensely), but I'm mighty worried about these textures. They just do not look good at this point. Hopefully Ninty will fix them up before release, as the game looks like it's still fairly early in development.
This looks great IMO.The game is still instantly recognisable but the cleaned up character models look great.I actually like the blurry textures too . My main question is the control scheme. Will this use the stylus for boomerang, catapult etc do you think??? How about the gyro?

Catapult?
I don't see how using the touch screen will work for the boomerang, unless you somehow aim it using the touch screen, but that may be too much trouble

Idunno, I love Greek food and all, I just don't see how Zelda would benefit from it's inclusion.

I've never even noticed a framerate problem in OoT, so I don't know how you can say it makes it "unplayable" The blurry textures are a result of the N64 cartridge. The VC version looks much crisper, and the 3DS version looks great. I don't understand how it hasn't aged well. The only thing I really think it needs is a second control stick to control the camera. After playing so many adventure games since then, it's hard to go back and have to deal with only using the Z button.

I'm with you all the way Luigi78. Your feelings and mine regarding Ocarina of Time 3DS are mutual.

Slingshot?
The catapult / Slingshot / Whatever you crazy americans call it could work like in the DS games ,only instead you could use the map to target enemies, I dunno just wondering what people ideas were about the controls

i admit ocarina of time has some rough spots, the prerendered backgrounds are among them, but i think the overall look is still something that doesn't age. to illustrate, i wouldn't change a single thing about majora's mask and that game looks 80-90% the same.
The aesthetics of the game are amazing, but technically the graphics are undeniably aged. We've seen how awesome a higher-poly Link (retaining the same style and form) can look; Unless the 3DS is not as powerful as we thought (Resident Evil proves otherwise), they can do the exact, same thing for the environment. Blurry, pixelly textures =/= good.
@lz: I never once said nor implied that. But as I said before, the poor quality of the original's graphics did prevent me from fully enjoying the game.

I know, I was just messing with you. I doubt the graphics in this remake will look like the original, considering what Nintendo has to work with...and with 3D as well

It isn't the graphics for me. Outside of the adult Temples and maybe a few other aspects, OOT really feels old. The other 3D Zeldas have surpassed it in almost every way to such a point where every time I've played OOT in the last few years outside of the temples I've wondered why I'm not playing the other 3D Zeldas instead.
Really, compare anything outside of the adult temples to the other 3D Zeldas. Basic gameplay, better in Wind Waker and TP (although to be fair I think that did help make those games too easy). Music, I have to go with Quantity over Quality. And not even that. OOT's music quality is AS good as the other 3D Zeldas at best. Graphics were better in later games but I admit I don't care that much outside of those stupid pre-rendered, one camera angle only, houses. The temples aren't quite as good (outside of maybe TP) but the quality is certainly comparable. The side games and side quests are impossibly better in Majora's Mask and TP (arguable about WW). The narrative and story are pretty basic, which is fine and considering how basic it is I guess holds up well but doesn't compare to the other games, especially Majora's Mask BRILLIANT story. And really, the child dungeons are painfully boring nowadays.
The game is really only still as loved as it is for the same reason the original DBZ is or the original Metroid. It was cool at the time but it's been surpassed by games in every way. Easily. Even Doom holds up better compared to other FPSs by comparison.
Admittedly the fact that it's still a really good game despite that says something. And it is Zelda so fair enough. But I'm sick and tired of overused nostalgia. I. WANT. SOMETHING. NEW.
