I'm going to video the no-death run, but I'm having trouble holding the system still for that long. It's making my hands cramp up. Gonna find some way to video the run as I recorded one last night that was just too shaky. And I've been played through the game about 15 or so times from start to finish.

I got the game and completed most of the regular levels. (Just 3 more to do). The intro looks like Max is playing video games (DS, or 3DS) with his grandma. Wtf? Lol. Anyway, I've only been in one special level so far (The one with the red hue) and it was pretty intense. I died quite a few times. But I eventually pulled through it.

Yeah...I think at least once I fought for what felt like ages through a hidden level, just to see one of those ****ers appear when I had one heart left. I said out loud, "Oh, come ON!"

Aaaanyway, does anyone know where the hidden exit is in 4-4? (I think 4-4...the upper-rightmost door on the stage select screen.) I can't find it...I skipped ahead to the level 5 secrets and completed one already, so 100% is within my grasp!

Thanks Corbs! That was a surprisingly easy one...which I'm glad for!

Now I just need 5-1, 5-2, and 5-3. Exploring we go...

Ok seriously...I'm on the VB level in the top left door of the first set of doors. The one where you need the boost jump thing to reach. Anyway, I get far into it and then I reach two of those big grey things that jump from the background and make a thud noise. Right after them is a set of spikes up and down. I CANT GET THROUGH! Its definitely a tighter squeeze than the first set of spikes like it in the start of the level and even that one I can barely squeak through. Is there some secret here I'm not getting?? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

6:20 to 100% the game, and those of you who completed it know I have some incentive to play through again. Awesome game...fantastic download.

I beat the game after 4.5 hours of nonstop playing, and I thought to myself, "this is the single best $9 I have ever spent on." The gameplay. The retro style and sound. I loved it all. Currently, it's my favorite eShop game, beating Pushmo by a longshot.

Only complaint? Those stupid pigs that looked like that they were using a toilet when those bombs were dropped. Seriously, look at their expressions when they attack. It made me hate those pigs for the entire game. Actually, Nintendo and Renegade Kid are the only people who can make me hate pigs. I mean, first Ganon, now these flying pigs...

From 2:37 to 2:44. Not me btw. Still, it's hilarious and it's a well made video.

I know I'm probably completely alone on this, but I just don't see what the big deal is about this game. It's certainly not a bad game, but the amount of praise it's been getting makes it seem like it's way more awesome than I found it to be.

At best the game just seems like a completely average platformer. It doesn't really seem to do anything new or better than any other platformer, and it honestly seems more cheap than challenging. The lack of any kind of real story or any sort of motivating factor was also a bit off-putting. And with a $9 price tag (the most expensive thing I've bought on the eShop so far) I expected way more content.

It'd be fair to say I was a bit disappointed with the game. I've been excited for it since I saw footage of it during E3 last year, so I definitely went into it with high expectations. Unfortunately it did not live up to them, nor has it lived up to any of my other 3DSWare titles so far.

I'm not trying to start a crusade against the game or anything, just wanted to give my honest opinion about it.

Just replayed this one...there's no real secret to it apart from timing. Try to time it so that as soon as you end your hover over the pit toward the first Thwomp-like guy, he's lifting into the background. If you time it right (and you do have a pretty nice margin of error) you should have time to just hop through quickly. In your rush don't hit your head on the spikes afterward, but with a little practice and timing you should make it alright.

Just a note: You don't die from the spikes until the center of your body (or at least the chest area) hits the spikes. Your head can be touching the spikes a little.

Guess you haven't seen Cave Story or Shantae: Risky's Revenge then.

Good to do so. Just because the majority think a game is amazing doesnt make them right and you wrong, and I agree Mutand Mudds was given too much hype.

The game is amazing. Now whether you like it or not, can only be determined by you. There are plenty of amazing games I myself don't like at all. Like the Super Smash Bros. and Call of Duty series.

KarrotMan

On the Last stage, and yeah the game is handing my bum to me Not quite SMB hard but alot of errors can be made if you're not careful. The character's pace is fitting to the stage layout, so I don't mind it if Max here is moving at a snail's pace. Overall, Its the best platformer on the eshop and it will definitely entertain the retro crowd.
@Waveboy MSF is great, get it after Mutant mudds though, it is a Blast to play if you're into speedrunning but short on content. It also has the Best S3D of the three games you've mentioned.(Switch the blocks when the enemy is in front of them)
Mutant Mudds > MSF >>> Kirby
