Wat? lol

Oh..I had zero trouble with it. But it takes FOREVER because the prowlers can't run while they carry something back to base camp.

And...let's just say I can't buy more plays now. I think I got around two dozen badges...I'm weak lol

Oh, well I stopped using the arcade some time ago. xp

@crimsontadpoles Yeah, I found the first couple hours of the game pretty tedious, with zero story and so many gathering/small monster quests. Now that I'm into 3 star quests it's getting more interesting. I've hardly done any online quests yet.

It seems like they're all easy in Low Rank...I'm sure they become much harder in High Rank, and even worse in Special when you start dealing with the Deviants and Hypers.

Even though I haven't been able to put the game down since I started playing , I'm already missing 4U. I don't know what it is but this game just felt very sluggish in the beginning. I miss the monster cutscenes and agree that some of the areas feel flat even though many of the pre-3U ones are entirely new to me.

Like I say, the new monster intros are even worse than before 4th generation, also...their decisions on removing some monsters from 4U...WTF? :/

I will say this, though...so glad they went with the original battle theme for the Arctic Ridge. Didn't even know Snowy Mountains had multiple battle themes until now.

Haha, wow, I thought the Great Maccao would be the easiest monster in the game until I encountered the Bulldrome. What a pushover! My weapon is barely better than the ones they give you by default, and I still kill this thing in a matter of 2 or 3 minutes.

Bulldrome is still highly annoying, though....hate him. Same can be said about Kirin. I can still take it out in 4U at level 140...but it's still extremely annoying to fight.

I'm seeing both steps back and steps forward with this game. The game looks great in towns and such but not so much in the play field. Love the mining/gathering both speed and the amounts you can get.

Is it me or is the hit detection a lot worse at least for the great swords? I feel like in 4U I would be getting the hits that aren't registering on this game. Plus on fields with hilly land I feel like the hit detections even worse. I guess it something I just need to get use to.

The game is much more basic than 4U, but honestly, I kind of like that. I just want to kill monsters and craft gear, and this one doesn't bore me with boatloads of text and unskippable story events like 4U did.

With that said, the environments are boring. When I first entered the Ancestral Steppe in 4U, I was wowed. I continued to be wowed by various environments in that game. I haven't experienced that sensation at all in this game.

Also, the monster intros stink.

Otherwise, I'm having a lot of fun thus far.

@Megumi_Sagano Can't agree. I haven't had any issue with it. G. Maccao, on the other hand, I find to be incredibly annoying. Stupid thing bounces all over the field.

Actually, from everything I've heard normal fights (low and high rank) are pathetically easy this time around; Hyper's about the difficulty of past games, and Deviants are G-rank (can confirm that one somewhat, at least).

First wyvern egg transport quest in the Hills, I can do this...avoiding Rathian is super easy for me.
encounters Astalos instead Crap...

EDIT: As for the difficulty thing...anyone else kinda wished this came out right after MH4 instead of 4U? :/

I like how he keeps you on your toes even with a full group. There's little room for mistakes during the battle with him, we had some great teamwork going tho. Despite playing with randoms.
I also knocked him out of his most devastating attack (at level 1 ...lol) with a really luckily-timed aerial attack. No skill involved whatsoever but it felt incredibly satisfying.

Don't tell my heart I have to fight him one more time for that last drop for the insect glaive tho...it was my first Rajang all over again, sweaty palms, heart pounding like a madman and 10 minutes "in the zone" XD

I cannot wait to do these quests with our usual group on here :3
Deviants seem like they're gonna be a lot of fun in between all the OP hax.

Spear Breaker became Stonefist? Huh.
Anyways, been focusing on SnowBaron Lagombi myself (Aerial SA for life).

I'm just starting to get used to the Gunlance now. I'm glad I went for that instead of the regular Lance because I'm finding it much more fun to use.

I also want to eventually main the Switch Axe and either a Bow or Bowgun in this game. All these weapons are very different to my normal play style, so I'll probably spend longer in the low rank quests until I get good with them.

Huh, I'm using that with the stonefist set. Bubble gives evasion+1 and the other skill is 20 points additional attack whenever you're "bubbled" which I really like. I use the Redhelm SA with that....when the monster's not weak against water and I'm using the Stonefist SA lol

The Lagombi set has recovery +2 and Airborne (increases jump attack/mounting meter damage), with the level 6 Snowbaron skill combining Evade Distance up and Stamina Recovery up.

MisterMan

Can I get some help? I'm trying to find out how to multiply items like in 4U. I've done the prowler quest to allow me to trade honey, but I don't know where to go to do that? Any suggestions? I know this is probably a dumb question and I'm missing something obvious...

MisterMan

Ralizah

@Tsurii Yeah, but I can skip past all that stuff if I want without worrying about missing any crucial plot details. The dialogue is as fun as it was in 4U, but I get a minor panic attack when I open up a new set of village quests and almost every single NPC in the game gets a dialogue bubble above them.

Overall, 4U still feels like a much more polished and complete experience, especially as a single-player game, but it's going to be hard to play any new entries that don't have these ridiculously fun hunting styles.

@MisterMan Talk to "Neko (Means Cat)" in the ranch. He seems to be the Wycoon of this game.

@Ralizah Seconded. 4U's singleplayer is so much more polished. I'm no fan of Shagaru Magala (Gore Magala + gold and white + Michael Bay), but he's leagues better as a final boss than Glavenus, and feels climactic.
It took me 15 minutes to kill Shagaru using the first upgrade for the Rathian Charge Blade (which is elemental and fire, which he's stupidly weak to); Glavenus died in 7 minutes using the second upgrade to the Astalos Switch Axe (which is elemental and thunder, something he resists).
I'd recommend new players try 4U; for all it's faults, it's going to be very hard to go back after what Generations brought to the table.
