@Tsurii I'll prob have some time tomorrow but not sure, life has been crazy for me the past couple weeks. I did finally hook up my ps4 too and been playing some of that xD

I have become Genericness, Destroyer of all that is Unique... again. (Ignore the bookshelf reflection)
I pretty heavily hinted at this during the online session. It's all one level off of max, due to both needing some materials and simply costing too much. Did Rathian and Nibelsnarf each once (Ian to get the basics, Snarf to get attuned to Adept) and have been using Gammoth as something of a DPS test.

Hilarious story. I was farming my butt off against Akantor. My goal was to get ONE Scalding Pleura Plus to complete the set. I fought the thing several more times, losing multiple times in a row at the end.
End of the story, I was in a piss poor mood by the end of the day yesterday. Just now, I hunted a Ukanlos in hopes of getting one. I found the Ukanlos a little less frustrating to fight and check the wiki one more time to confirm rather or not one could get one from him.
I read it more closely. Turns out that it's not Akantor or Ukanlos you have to break thr chest off of, but AGNAKTOR. So there I am, face palming for about 30 seconds. XD
How do you even play this darn game? I bought it since a lot of you seem to be giving it a lot of praise but I just can't see what's there to praise about tbh.
Visuals are a blurry pixelated mess of jumbled graphics inferior to that of even the PSP's version of MH games.
Controls are sloppy and archaic, auto aim is non existent, and you can't even move cancel between attacks.
The game is dumb and automatically assumes the player is already an MH prodigy. It doesn't tell you which area a quest is going to take place so you're going to end up wandering the entire map for hours on end with no clue of where you're suppose to go. It doesn't tell the player what the monster he or she is attacking so again you'll end up fighting ten thousand random monsters in your vicinity until you get lucky and find the quest monster by a miracle.
Seriously, after starting a new game I talked to about three or four NPC's, accepted the first quest I saw in the quest NPC, and wandered/traversed the unknown land for a few minutes trying to complete said quest with no avail.
Barely twenty minutes have passed since I booted up the game and I'm already starting to yawn of boredom. I don't have any clue what I'm suppose to be doing. The game doesn't even tell me what I'm supposed to do, doesn't even give me even a quest marker on my map so I know where I should go. Controls are horrible too.
Again, what's so good about this game? It's not a very beginner friendly game that's for sure.
The PSP Monster Hunter games sucked compared to the 3DS ones graphically; even then, it's a 3DS game. What do you expect?
"Controls are sloppy and archaic, auto aim is non existent, and you can't even move cancel between attacks." ...This is definitely bait.
Are monster hunter fanboys as bad as you? Calling a legitimate concern a bait just because I'm talking negatively about your game? Seriously? This game is pretty archaic and not very beginner friendly.
No auto aiming.
No quest marker.
No enemy info.
It's just a guessing game cause you won't know what you're going to even do to proceed to the next quest.
And I like how those are the only things you quoted given how lenghty my post was.
Again, I repeat: How will a person new to the series even enjoy this?

Auto-aiming has never been part of the series. There's Target Cam (tapping the monster's icon on the touch screen allows you to tap the L button to re-center the camera on it), but full lock-on has never been in the series and would really work against it (you'll want to go after certain parts of larger monsters and it takes actually skill to hit weak points).
The talk of controls and move-cancelling makes me wonder what on earth you were expecting. It's not a hack and slash; believe it or not, certain attacks on weapons can be cancelled into other attacks, and almost everything can be chained into an evade at the end. But you can't button mash-- you have to be acquainted with your weapon.
Honestly, did you even glance at the touch screen when you were looking at the quests? Where the quest details are that tell you which map you'll be going to and the quest objective? There's even a nice little icon that shows it to you. Mid-quest you can get all the text info by hitting start and selecting "Quest Info". It's seriously looking like you didn't read or look at anything and are now paying for it.
If you want actual help with something, I'll gladly discuss it. But right now it's incredibly hard to take you seriously with a bunch of stereotypical and shallow complaints.
@crimsontadpoles Only because the 3DS doesn't have a quality right stick for camera control.
If you were to rely on a Zelda-type lock-on, faster monsters like Narga and Rajang would make things real disorienting, not to mention increase the chances of being blindsided by a second monster.
I really tried to enjoy this game guys I really did but it just was too boring and difficult for me so I sold it.
Wish the next game has
Quest markers
Auto aiming
Enemy names/descriptions (that way you'll know what monsters you're battling making hunt quests a little bit easier)
More detailed quests cause finding ferns and stuff in generations was an archaic task that can take you hours to complete as the game doesn't really explain those kinds of fetch quests. I mean, how will a beginner know what a fern even looks like, right?
@DarthNocturnal In Generations, you get entries for your Monster List from the Wycademy researcher as you progress both offline and off. Although some, like Elder Dragons and Deviants are incomplete until you hunt them.
Gathering quests early on mainly serve as a way to teach newer hunters what things and where they can find them in any given area, via exploration. Later, they offer more substantial rewards than Harvest Tours. In Low Rank, for example, Royal Rhino quests often give some Shiny Beetles upon completion, as do Coal quests with Dragonite Ore, and of course the various small monster quests. The only reasons to take Harvest Tours over these are when there's no better alternatives for the type of material you want, or you just need a couple of them quickly.
