I've been playing the demo and it's pretty cool. I've never played a Monster Hunter game before and I really want to like this, but so far I'm so bad at this. I don't usually have this much trouble with games, hopefully I'll get better with some more time. So far I've tried: sword and shield, double blades, and great sword. The great sword was definitely my worst one. I'm gonna try a few more weapons and spend some more time with this. Hopefully I'll get better.
I won't be playing this till some time Tuesday so it seems. My system should be here late day Monday and I doubt I'll start it till the next day. Probably Tuesday will be an offline day for me as I'll be getting familiar with the game but then after that I'll be online for at least the next 3 month's straight probably longer.

Be sure to look up some tutorials on those weapons. You've tried some good beginner weapons (dual blades, sword and shield), more speed than the rest, but it might still be a bit hard to get into it at first (maybe you'll even discover a different weapon that fits you).

The learning curve is pretty high. It can be off-putting for that reason, but if you stick with it you will have a great time. Eventually, you'll find a weapon or two that you click with and you'll be hacking tails off and smashing claws with the best of them. I only started on the Wii, but I've found that this is one of the most rewarding multiplayer experiences I've had. Happy hunting!

The only reason everyone cared about them was that 3G/U had a glitch that locked you into the one you started on when you created your character. On top of that, certain tables had a paltry amount of possible talismans, with next to no useful ones.
MH4U does not have said glitch. It also has no all-around terrible charm tables.
