@NEStalgia Hmm, I was able to proceed to checkout just now. How far were you able to go before it booted you? Maybe use a new browser?

I hope this remake adds more bosses as well. AM2R knocked it out of the park on that front with the robot bosses, and I want to see more SR388 wildlife like Serris and Arachnus. Don't put every Fusion boss in there, but tie both games more strongly in some way.

@meleebrawler I really like this idea. If the team plans to flesh out the chozo lore of the game, it's a must.

@Meowpheel 5 (types of) bosses + Arachnus is still a pitiful ammount of bosses for a 2D Metroid. Zero Mission doesn't have many bosses, but they're all unique.

I don't think I've ever played a Metroid game longer than perhaps 30 minutes on the SNES. I can hardly wait to get this. I should probably also think about playing the trilogy or Other M on my Wii...

“[In] this game there’s a lot of background, there’s a lot of lore involved in this title. But it’s not like a novel or something. It incorporates the lore, but it’s not integral to the gameplay experience. It’s in the background more than in the foreground.
There is definitely information for the players to get that revolves around sort of the larger storyline.”

I'm so happy Nintendo is expanding their in-universe lore capabilities. I'm getting this the second it releases

I'd call this one YAM2R, but I like Nintendo's title better.

Agreed. The Metroids never really felt like bosses to me when there's so many of them (they're more like minibosses than full bosses) and it'd be weird if they left Arachnus as the only one. And with the new combat mechanics in this game, boss battles should be a lot more dynamic and interesting. So I see no reason not to throw in some actual bosses into this game.

Where's the legion of people who've been begging for a new Metroid all these years? Particularly the ones always talking about a 2D Metroid?

I'd expect this thread to be a little more lively than 6 pages by now

I don't think page number really represents hype for the game. I'm sure everyone who's been wanting a 2D Metroid is extremely happy at the moment. Plus, I'm guessing this game might be the first of a few. Maybe after this we get an actual Metroid 5

It looks like Best Buy sold out their amiibo preorders for the 2pk.

Having the amiibo in the pose of the original return of Samus game cover made me want it instantly. Despite it's simplicity that cover is one of my favourites, to the point that I'll choose this one over the original Samus amiibo even if I like Other M suit more. I'm also getting that Squishy Metroid because, well... it's squishy.

I will own the amiibo. I will own the SE even if I have to pay 3-4 times the store price. I will be playing this on release. The reveal trailer for this game made me emotional, as I've wanted a return of 2D Metroid, an official remake of Metroid II from Nintendo and a return of melee mechanics that they first toyed with in Other M. I've beaten the original twice via the 3DS VC and have played a few hours of AM2R. I'm more than ready for September.

The trailer for this games has 1.4 million views right now. Only Super Mario Odyssey's (4.4m) and Prime 4's teaser (1.2) have surpassed the 1m mark. Make no mistake, people are excited fot this.

You don't.

But extent of commotion and chatter is a pretty reliable indicator for interest and excitement..

@Tsurii If it's only going to happen once, I'm very glad it's this time. That special edition is packed.

I have such mixed feelings when watching Sakamoto talk in that interview, and it's exciting. Seeing how Other M turned out, he also made Fusion, and Zero Mission with great passion and was well received. He looks really confident with what he's produced here.

Makes Sakamoto feel mysterious. I just wanna dissect him, about Metroid.
