Finally, my favorite game on my favorite system 😭
This is the prettiest use of 3D I've ever seen on the 3DS, or anywhere really. I can't even count the number of layers sometimes. It completely reinvigorated my love for this game and its art/atmosphere. It helps that it's a pretty stable 60fps too.
It looks like they're using Moonlight to stream it from some other device, such as a PC. You can play practically anything on a 3DS that way, at least if you can handle its low resolution and limited controls.
There are fan ports of Hollow Knight to Android devices and the PS Vita. Someone was working on a de-make for the GameBoy too.
@Matt_Barber Yes but the separating factor is the 3D, along with mods that highlight the feature like deblurring the background elements which transform the experience. The streaming resolution is 800x480 which is twice the vertical resolution but along with downsampled 720p or higher from the PC creates a much sharper image than we're used to on the old platform. The seamless 60fps is the cherry on the cake, I now believe this is the definitive way to play if your goal is appreciating the atmosphere. I just got 112% + Path of Pain + Gold Zote with 0 issues (besides the inherent frustrating difficulty found on any platform).
