Topic: Favorite Fire Emblem Game?

I have played both Awakening and Fates Conquest thoroughly for more than 40 hours each. While Awakening may be a grabby choice for my favorite, Conquest rectifies the errors of Awakening (while admittedly introducing its own flaws). So I ask you, what is your favorite version of Fire Emblem?

I made the question a little more broad for you, and to answer your question I prefer the first one we got in NA on the gba (FE7 if I'm not mistaken).

Though Awakening is a close second from how nice the story is presented.

@Waluigi Thank you! I do believe that the first one we got starred Roy? Awakening is good (still haven't beaten it).

Nope! We never actually got the one with Roy. Binding Blade was the first GBA FE released, but it never came to the US, we only got the one with Lyndis, and Sacred sword who had Eirika.

Yup! Which is off because the first time we ever saw a FE character in the west it was Roy in Melee.

Lol. Not a name I've heard before for being a protagonist in a FE game.

I'll probably always have the biggest place in my heart for the first Fire Emblem we got in NA, even though I actually liked playing Awakening more. If that makes any sense.

My favorite is a fight between FE7's Blazing Sword, or FE9's Path of Radiance.
7's story is nice enough to capture you, but it's not outstanding. The gameplay is spectacular.
9's story is discussed as the best (before it's sequel Ruined it) in it's franchise, and has the best charm of characters. Gameplay is also nice but doesn't feel intuitive or look good as 7.

@RevolverLink Nostalgia for the original is why you like it.

@KO-Cub I haven't played any of those. I have heard and partially seen Ike's games though.

I made a thread by the way for discussing anything about the Fire Emblem series by the way

Anyways, my personal favourite is my first game which is FE 7. The game started 3 main lords being Eliwood, Hector and Lyn, but the story centered more around Eliwood and is a prequel to FE 6 (Roy'a game).
Spoilers for those that haven't beaten the game and aren't familiar with FE 6
Eliwood is the father of Roy

@Kazuo Thats cool! I wish the 3ds had old versions of FE for old and new 3ds versions. I'll join the thread you mentioned.

My first one was Sacred Stones, and while I've played it three times (twice on GBA & once on 3DS), I'd say Awakening is my favorite.

I love the artstyle Awakening introduced, as well as the mariage feature, and the characters are the most memorable of any FE, I've played.

I do have Birthright, and while there are things I like about it (the more in depth marriage system, the My Castle feature, & the extra Japanese flair in particular), I just don't find it as engrossing as Awakening. I'm somewhat passed chapter 20, but just lost the urge to play it, so it's on hiatus for the time being.

Oh, I also had Shadow Dragon, which I didn't care for.

Currently Playing:
Switch - Blade Strangers
PS4 - Kingdom Hearts III, Tetris Effect (VR)

I have to go with 7 (Blazing Sword), 9 (Path of Radiance) and 12 (Heroes of Light and Shadow). @KO-Club has covered 7 and 9 already and I don't have much to add to that, but I'll say FE12 is a huge improvement over Shadow Dragon (FE11). It's hard to think of them as the same game, and it's a shame that FE11's reputation puts people off trying it. That and, you know, the fact that it never came out of Japan.

I've wanted to get into the SNES titles for a while now, but I'm finding it very hard to do. I'm too used to the colorful GBA aesthetics. Maybe this summer, hopefully.

@RR529 I always thought Birthright would have a better plot than Conquest.

Birthright has less plot holes, but its story falls flat in when they insist all the time "We are good, Nohr is bad". The lack of grey makes the story a bit weak for me. That Ryoma finds it normal that they are throwing away food that they can't eat makes it a bit hard to emphatize with him and his country.

My fav game to this day is FE7, its gameplay is superb. Between Fates and Awakening i prefer Awakening - mostly because magic users were nerfed a lot in Fates, and they are my fav type of unit.

I have a chronic lack of time, for everything.

Now playing: Okami HD, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

@Luna_110 True. In Conquest, I received two magic units. Its sad.

FE7, from what I've played so far.

This blue eye perceives all things conjoined. The past, the future, and the present. Everything flows and all is connected. This eye is not merely seen reality. It is touching the truth. Open the eye of truth... There is nothing to fear.

I've beaten every Fire Emblem except for Gaiden, so with that said I'd put my top 3 as
1)Radiant Dawn
2) Awakening
3)Fates

@Luna_110: Thing is though, even if Birthright has less plotholes, its nowhere as immersive as Conquest.

My personal favorite is Awakening. It got me into FE so that's all there is it say.

After so long...I'm back. Don't ask why
