@Spoony_Tech This is an abnormality for me. The vast majority of the time I don't download anything that I can find as a physical download unless I'm absolutely sure I will never want to trade it in ever. I jumped the gun here but I'm enjoying the game so far
If you add me, I need to at least know you or I won't add you back.
I finally got it and began digging in! It's pretty awesome, just as I hoped! I started out as a cook and now switched to angler. I remember someone mentioning they're going to try to be self-sufficient and not use the shops and that's what I plan on doing too. We'll see how it goes. I'll probably get the DLC whenever I get an eShop card next.
I just can't believe how long I've waited for this and that it hasn't disappointed me!!
I haven't stopped playing it and I have 50hrs so far and I haven't even finished the main story!
Lifes like a game there are those who are good at it and those who need some practice.

I'm happy with my more then 20 hours. I haven't played anything else since I started. I'm really starting to hit a wall with the carpenter and woodcutter. Looks like a miner will be next as I can't even see where I could buy some of the materials I need. Plus it looks like those materials would be well over a 1000 Dosh anyways just for one piece of ore I need. I like that part of it though. Hit a bit of a wall then switch it up and it's fresh all over again.
Can't say though I'll be interested in a cook so far that seems the least fun to me. I don't really use food items.

Cook is a great life if you like combat. You can get nice bonuses from food and Apple Juice is amazing with SP

Well then I guess there is more to being a cook then I realized. Good to know.

If I was only ever able to have Monster Hunter and EO games in the future, I would be a happy man.
After looking at more reviews of this game It makes me wonder if the people that scored it low even bothered switching lives. I love the game and can see how some would give it a 7 but anything lower just tells me people didn't even try. One reviewer said it's rpg lite with Animal Crossing elements.......yeah, NO!

@WaLzgi Seems like you know your stuff regarding this game! I have some questions for you old friend!
1) If my wife and I play the local multiplayer, can we join up as a party and level up together? She is a cook and I'm a paladin. Will she get EXP when I kill monsters and vice versa?
2) When I change life from Paladin to other life, do I keep my Paladin skills? The tutorial was pretty vague about this. Do I just keep the common skills or the fighting skills as well?
3) Does the furniture do anything at all? Or just mere decorations?
4) How do players trade items when playing multiplayer? We can't seem to figure that out.
Thanks!
Oh by the way, Gamespot gave this game a 5/10.... That score convinced me never refer to that website for reviews anymore lol.
Nintendo fan since 6 years of age.
Owned: SNES, Gameboy, Gameboy Color, Gameboy Advance, DS, 3DS, Wii U, PS1, PS2, PS3, PS4 and PSP3000.
First 4, you use the box just below the person you change jobs with.
3) Yes it's merely to decorate you home but you can get some good money from the furniture as well. Plus I think only the carpenter skill can make the best furniture in the game and that's where I'm heading. However I keep hitting walls and need to advance the story or switch jobs for more materials. Hope that helps.
2) Might as well answer this as well. Yes you do keep those skills. However you need to be the correct job to report to your master to get the points to rank up. For instance I'm now a woodcutter but I can also do anything I could as a carpenter but I can't report unless I change jobs back.

The dialog in the main story is just excellent. It's been a long time since I've had a smile on my face reading dialog like this game has. Its both witty and charming at the same time. What a wonderful job they did with this game!

I know that if you own the DLC, you can't play and StreetPass with other people who don't have it (which is asinine). But is this the case only if you have access to the island, or if you just have the DLC? I ask because I want to be able to play with my friends, but I know that a few of them won't buy the DLC.
If I do buy the DLC, my thinking is that I can play on two files. My main file would have Origin Island unlocked, but I'll also have another file in which I'll leave Origin Island intentionally locked, so I can play with my friends.
Will this work? Or will I be unable to play with other people who don't have the DLC even if I don't have access to Origin Island?
Formally called brewsky before becoming the lovable, adorable Yoshi.
Now playing:
Final Fantasy XIV (PC) | The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening (Switch) | Celeste (Switch)
@brewsky You can only play with the people with the same version as you. If you get the dlc it automatically changes your version and you can only play with others that have it Reguardless of if you have the island unlocked or not. Separate files won't work because you will have the dlc on any file you choose. The dlc for the most part won't Be needed till you get to level 50 anyways so just hold off if you can.

Ok so I started the game today and I'm having a lot of fun. I'm level 12 right now and I started out as a Paladin. Switched to Miner for a bit after making Apprentice Rank but switched back again soon after. I like the story so far.
So how does online work in this game? Is it good? How easy is it to set up?

Well first of all you need to go to the guild and register any friends you think might have it. It works a lot like animal crossing. You need to turn online communication on every time you start playing to see who's online. If you want you can communicate with them straight away and set up a town to visit either yours or theirs. I personally have had visitors or gone to another town yet but I have talked to a few. Register me up as I usually play with the online communications on so you'll see me. I'm not all that much further then you in level. Maybe level 18.
@Tigus Add me up and we will play together. I've been itching to play with someone else as well. If I see you online we can join up.
