I gave myself a 3DS XL for Christmas and along with it picked up many games, most of them used.
Anyways, I'm new to shopping at the eShop, I have purchased two games so far but have a pretty large wish list. I figured I would wait until a few of them go on sale.
But then I started thinking if waiting is a wise thing to do after all. I mean is there any kind of warning when games will be removed from the eShop? I haven't owned my 3DS long enough to really know how the eShop works in regards to game turn over etc
I would hate to find out that one of the games I was planning to buy was suddenly gone. Several titles are ONLY available in the eShop. Is there any kind of warning or announcement when games will be removed?
I would sure appreciate any info on this, Thanks !!
Games normally aren't removed for no reason. They should remain always unless there were some reason to it. But I'm sure you shouldn't worry about it, most if not all games currently on the eShop shouldn't be going anywhere anytime soon.
It very, very rarely happens. When it does happen, it's often a couple of years after the consoles sucessor is released and in those cases it's monslty just licensed. There is often a warning to. In other words, no need to worry at all.
Thank you all!! I will bide my time and keep an eye on my wish list. May as well wait to see if they drop in price. Several titles I'm interested in are only for sale in the UK and Europe so I was excited to discover them in the eShop. As a download they are much less than half the price if I were to buy them as an import. In some cases 75% cheaper.
I also check on this site several times a day to catch what's new. I have found it to be the most informative one on the web.
As long as you have Notifications enabled via the eShop, you should be informed of whenever an eShop title is close to discontinuation via the Home Menu screen. Nintendo will usually issue prior notice.
From memory, the only games that I can think of that have been discontinued are Tetris Axis (due to the retail release of Tetris Ultimate), the Game Boy version of Tetris and FreakyForms (which was replaced by a full retail release titled FreakyForms Deluxe). Some free software have also been discontinued, such as Nintendo Video and Pokédex 3D (which was replaced by the full paid software Pokédex 3D Pro).
For the most part, any discontinued titles have been largely insignificant or replaced with a similar, if not superior version.
Porygon did nothing wrong.
