It would be a really nice gesture from Nintendo to finally make these available to everyone else via the Eshop before it finally closes. The early-adopters have had them to themselves for a decade so I can't imagine anyone would feel hard done by. I'd love to play the Minish Cap on a handheld system again
We got them because we paid much more for our 3DS's back in the day.
It was sort of a "gift" since they lowered the price very early on in the life span.
@TommyTendo Yea I get that, but I can't imagine that 10 years later anyone would feel hard done by if they were made available (for a price) to everyone. Or would you?
As someone who has the games, I wouldn't be too upset if others got them, but I don't think Nintendo would want to release them as they are. The GBA games do not have any of the virtual console features you would find on other games, such as the virtual console menu and by extension, restore points. You also cannot access the home menu with these games without closing them entirely. Since they would be reworking these 10 games for so little reward, they probably don't see the point, and Nintendo won't want to release them as is, because as I said, they are very different from the rest of the virtual console.
I am somewhat surprised they never had a release as a New 3DS exclusive thing, a la SNES games.

You are absolute right and although I am a Nintendo 3DS ambassador (or sucker?) I'd support that consumer-friendly decision 100% but...
I wouldn't expect them to have any sort of nice final gesture.
I'm afraid that explains how much Nintendo cares about consumers.
@MS7000 The reason why GBA games do not have any Virtual Console feature is because they are the original games running in the backwards compatibility mode that is built in Nintendo DS hardware and also in Nintendo 3DS hardware, that has two backwards compatibility modes in spite of not having a GBA cartridge slot. Nintendo could release all the GBA games whose rights they own on the Nintendo 3DS eShop.
