Actually, a Youtube app is pretty unecessary. It may/can take a lot of battery life. You need the charger then. For a while. And you need to be to an outlet. And when you have that, you can just turn on your laptop or anything that plays YT. Maybe for a few moments it is fun to do (Watching on the toilet FTW) but I suggest not.

@JDT I can't argue that videos don't drain battery life quickly, but why is there a Netflix app then? It can go for just a hair over 3 hours, and the only real difference is that YouTube videos are generally shorter than TV episodes or movies. You could watch a 10 minute video of how to get past the game you're stuck in, then resume playing.
Obviously it's not ideal, but there are people who would get use out of it (certainly not me, though). Maybe with the release of a new model it would be more feasible. It would be more practical than eBooks or other multimedia propositions at least.
