The release date has now changed from the 28th Sat to the 27 Fri as i went into my local GAME store to find out, also what Trade in deals they are doing against a 3DS XL they said thay are selling the 3DS XL for £180 and giving £100 trade if you trade in your 3DS & if you have ambassador games or have download anything and need to do a system transfer then you will have to buy the 3DS XL outright go and do the system transfer then come back and they will give you £100 cash for your 3DS along with a charger for your 3DS XL.
Yes it was confirmed via memo just that day and by the Manager so im defo getting it on Friday, i played on one that day and its definitely a much better experience on the bigger screens, however as i also have a DSi XL i was interested in how it handles/displayed DS games on it compared to the DSi XL as it might be worth getting rid of that aswell as the screen is roughly the same size, now the 3DS displays DS games with a different colour palette compared to the DSi and the same is true with the 3DS XL i got the guy to run Animal Crossing on both the 3DS XL and the DSi XL and they most definately produce a different coloured image (will have to see which one is more accurate if its worth selling my DSi XL)
Look my details are all correct, release date ive seen the memo, £100 trade in ive got the receipt that says as such etc believe it or not thats the deal. So i put £20 deposit down wiil go in friday collect the 3DS XL and pay an extra £160 goto my car thether from my iPhone and do a system transfer walk back to GAME then trade in my 3DS for £100 cash and collect a 3DS XL charger aswell, this was explained clearly to me by the Manager and deputy manager.
I popped into my local GAME store on the way home, and yup, it's true.
The guy there told me the 3DS XL is indeed arriving on Friday now, instead of Saturday.
Of even more interest, they had a 3DS XL Demo unit up and running. I took pictures!

Nintendo ALWAYS releases on a Friday here in Holland (and rest of Europe?) so im thinking the original date might have been a mistake. Very often you can already buy the stuff on Thursday night after the shops have stocked their shelves for the next day.

Well I want to my GAME yesterday to pre-order NSMB2 and pick up Steel Diver. I asked if the launch date of the 3DSXL was different for them and they said it was the same as before (28th). I'm good friends with one of the staff so I've asked him to let me know if anything does change. Who knows :S
I too popped into my local GAME yesterday to pre-order my 3DS XL. I am doing the trade-in of my Aqua Blue 3DS, which will be missed but I cannot justify keeping it as it will never be used when the XL arrives. The deal is trade in your 3DS and get an XL for £79.99. Here are some more details that I can remember:-

My store will be opening a half an hour earlier (8:30 instead of 9).
They have received documents (from Head Office), which I saw myself, detailing that they will be doing system transfers even though the store has no wi-fi in place. On speaking to one of the staff he advised not to worry and he would set up tethering on his phone if necessary, he is sure that the store will sort something out on the day though.
The main 3DS XL pre-order colours have been Silver first, then Red and finally Blue (I went for red).
The deposit was £20 (non-refundable as far as I am aware but it can be transferred to a gift card).
The cost of the XL is £179.99 INCLUDING an AC adapter. This may be a trade in only deal. Not all staff were aware of this but one of them was. So on the day I will trade-in my 3DS and pay £59.99.
They are advising to back up your SD card to a PC just in case :eek:
The store had a fixed in display 3DS XL in red and also one in silver, which is not fixed down and the staff have been more than happy to let me play with on my 2 visits. My first visit being last week, where I first convinced myself to trade-up
They are offering £5 for the Circle Pad Pro accessory. Not a lot I know but I may as well get rid as no use with the XL. Price to pay on day is now £54.99.
The staff gave me a voucher booklet which on the day gives you money off xx amount spent. There is one in there for £50+ to get £5 off and another for £100 spend to get £10 off. If you pop into pre-order it may be worth asking for one of these, every little helps Price to pay on day is now £49.99.
In terms of the 3DS XL itself... I like its size, the screens really are massive! Bigger than even the DSi XL, It feels nice to hold, button placement wise, and the non shinyness sort of works, no more smudges or fingerprints Even though I think the unit is uglier than the original 3DS, I love and hate the shiny at the same time I don't know what the early reviewers we're on about in terms of the improved 3D sweet spot as to me it seemed exactly the same, a tilt here or there and the image starts to go a bit crazy
