Upcoming Switch 2 games

Juggling two consoles is hard work for some, but not for Nintendo. While the Switch 2 is the primary focus for the Big N, don't ever count the Switch 1 out. 2025 was a busy one, with the Switch 2's launch really filling out the roster and finally giving us some long-awaited titles and big launch-window hitters, but 2026 sees Nintendo branching out a little bit.

Leading the charge on Switch 2 from the Big N are Splatoon Raiders, Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave, Nintendo Switch Sports Resort and Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.

Third party support is also proving to be significant on the new console, with releases such as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, Valheim, and Metaphor: ReFantazio coming to Nintendo audiences.

There's a lot to look forward to. We've rounded up 35 games coming to Nintendo Switch systems in 2026 we're most looking forward to - and make sure you let us know what you're most excited for in the comments.

TBC

Need some Jet Set Radio in your life, but with trains? Denshattack! certainly looks the part, with its gorgeous and explosive colour palette, and with precise tricks and skills to pull off, you'll look like the coolest train imaginable.

Yes, you read that right — train. Your mode of transport isn't roller blades or even a car. And this game bills itself as an action-adventure platformer. But with high scores to hit, who is going to worry about progressing when you look this cool?

Splatoon Raiders (Switch 2)

Launch date
23rd July 2026
Platform
Switch 2
Physical?
Yes

Going by our preview, Splatoon Raiders is something different for the series - with more platforming, a refresh to weapon and loadout customisation, the addition of dungeons and bosses - which makes us even more excited.

FINAL FANTASY X/X-2 HD Remaster (Switch 2)

Launch date
23rd July
Platform
Switch 2
Physical?
Japan-only so far, Game-Key Card

Two of the best role-playing games from the PS2 are coming to Nintendo's newest console. How it differs from 2019's Switch 1 editions remains to be seen, but if you've been itching for a replay - or have yet to sample the delights of Spira - the expected resolution bump alone should be worth it. And if you are in the middle of a Switch 1 playthrough, there's unfortunately no word of an upgrade path or save data transfer available.

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition (Switch 2)

Yes (1st October)

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 gets the Switch 2 Edition treatment after the surprise drop of the first game during June's Nintendo Direct.

Big Walk (Switch 2)

Launch date
4th August
Platform
Switch 2
Physical?
TBC

From the developer of Untitled Goose Game, this "walker-talker" is all about co-operation and communication.

Anywhere from two to 12 players must work together to overcome obstacles and puzzles using a wide array of communication methods. And if you don't have any friends on Switch 2, the good news is Big Walk is going to feature crossplay with PS5 and PC players.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered (Switch 2)

Launch date
11th August 2026
Platform
Switch 2
Physical?
Yes (full game on cart)

Over a year after it arrived on other consoles, Oblivion Remastered is making its way to Switch 2.

Hopefully the bugs from other versions will be ironed out by the time we get our hands on this, but we're eager to return to a classic world with a new lick of paint — it's one of Bethesda's best, and we hope it makes the Switch 2 jump better than Skyrim did.

Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 (Switch 2)

Launch date
27th August 2026
Platform
Switch 1 & 2
Physical?
Yes on Switch, Game-Key Card on Switch 2

It was only a matter of time before Konami announced the Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2, and yes, Metal Gear Solid 4 will finally be available on consoles other than PS3.

Alongside that, we're also getting Ghost Babel and Peace Walker. And the package is coming to Switch 1 as well; we're definitely curious to see how MGS4 holds up on the older system.

Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition (Switch 2)

Launch date
28th August, 2026
Platform
Switch 2
Physical?
Yes (Game-Key Card)

Here's a port everyone expected — Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition, which includes the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC and some brand new character classes, introduced for the new version.

You've surely heard of this GOTY winner from 2022; "open-world Souls" is the phrase often banded around. While early demos reported performance issues, more recent footage has looked much better, and the delay into 2026 should help.

Hopefully we won't lose our temper as we get our backsides handed to us over and over again.

Final Fantasy XIV Online (Switch 2)

Launch date
August 2026
Platform
Switch 2
Physical?
Unlikely

The critically-acclaimed MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV is coming to a Nintendo console, some 13 years after it made its debut! Of course, the game has been through a lot of changes and has seen many expansions over the years, and it'll be arriving on Switch 2 before the next big expansion, Evercold.

There will be a beta period before the game fully launches, but after that, you'll need to pay a subscription to play — and, if you want to double dip as a PC or PS5 player, then you'll need to pay an additional sub, at half the cost. If you don't mind that, it should be a great opportunity to do some crafting and gathering on-the-go.

Pokémon Pokopia Expansion Pass (Switch 2)

Launch date
August 2026
Platform
Switch 2
Physical?
TBC (perhaps as part of a 'complete edition' in the future?)

Pokémon Pokopia's Expansion Pass is rolling out in three parts. The first - in August - will introduce a new underwater area named Bubbly Basin. How will you venture into the depths, you may wonder? It's through a new Dive ability, which will be made available to all players for free.

Part 2 will then arrive in late 2026 with new features and crafting recipes, and Part 3 sometime in 2027 with a new town and more.

007 First Light (Switch 2)

Launch date
Summer 2026
Platform
Switch 2
Physical?
Game-Key Card

Now here's a game we're surprised to see on Switch 2. Hitman developer IO Interactive is creating what it calls "the ultimate spycraft fantasy" in 007 First Light (originally known as Project 007), a wholly unique James Bond stealth-action game.

This Bond origin story will feature 007 as he starts life in MI6. Blending stealth gameplay with gadgets, car chases, and style galore, we'll have to wait until the summer — after the game's release on other consoles, with reviews saying it's a banger — to see how the game holds up.

Orbitals (Switch 2)

Launch date
3rd September 2026
Platform
Switch 2
Physical?
Yes (full game)

Amid a swathe of co-op games coming to Switch 2 in 2026, Orbitals stands out the most to us. It looks and feels like a classic anime from the '80s, and you get to explore and pilot your way through space with two charming characters. What's not to love?

You'll be searching space to try and save your crumbling space station from ruin. Outside of that and teaming up with a partner, we don't know what to expect, except what looks to be a delightful time.

Onimusha: Way of the Sword (Switch 2)

Launch date
4th September
Platform
Switch 2

Yes (Game-Key Card)

Following Resident Evil Requiem and Pragmata, Capcom continues its run of Switch 2 day-in-date releases in 2026 with a long-awaited new instalment in the Onimusha series.

Set in 17th century Edo-period Kyoto, you play a lone samurai taking on the demonic Genma in carefully-considered duels.
