Dive is a move that's been introduced to Pokémon Pokopia post-release.
Though it's a requirement for starting the Bubbly Basin DLC, the Dive move is free for all players as part of August 2026's 2.0.0 update, allowing you to start exploring beneath the waves without needing to fork out for the Expansion Pass.
This guide explains the requirements for learning Dive in Pokémon Pokopia, where to learn it, and how to use it.
Dive requirements in Pokémon Pokopia
There are several requirements for learning the move Dive in Pokémon Pokopia:

- Download free title update 2.0.0 (no Expansion Pass purchase required)
- Learn moves Jump and Surf
- Complete Bleak Beach's "Raise the environment level!" request (reach level 5)
For additional context: Jump is learned from Magikarp as part of the Withered Wasteland storyline, while Lapras is from progressing the story in Bleak Beach. There are more info on these in our Ditto skills and transformations guide.
And if you need advice on reaching Environment Level 5, our dedicated raise the environment level guide can help.
Where to learn Dive
Once the above requirements have been met, you will have to track down Manaphy.
Following the 2.0.0 update, visit Professor Tangrowth outside of the Bleak Beach Pokémon Center to learn of a mysterious new island that has appeared to the north.
Surf over to find Manaphy lying on the beach, who asks for five bunches of Seaweed. If you don't already have some in your inventory, you should find these readily on beaches.

Once handed over, you're then taught how to Dive, and are asked to explore the cave nearby to find some treasure.
The small area features a plinth with a decorative Poké Ball to collect.

Once done, return to Manaphy. After a short tutorial prompt, you're then free to use Dive at your leisure - and start the Bubbly Basin DLC.
Note: Manaphy cannot be befiended unless you have purchased and progressed the Expansion Pass.
How to use Dive in Pokémon Pokopia
Dive works automatically as soon as you enter the water, with a bubble surrounding Ditto, allowing you to explore.
To swim while underwater, hold the B button. From there, press L to go deeper, or R to rise. You can float in place by pressing the ZL button, and if you want to drop to the bottom quickly, spin the left analogue stick round and round.
