@Grumblevolcano: Ah, OK then. But still, how exactly does a bunch of legit leaks point to a rushed NX mess? I still don't see that. @Freeon-Leon@-Red- Perhaps Freeon gave a not-so-effective example... how about Super Mario 3D World? Oh man, the complaining because it wasn't Galaxy 3... or Mario Kart 8? I remember some people saying that the anti-gravity features were just gimmicks that added no value to the game. Heck, even Star Fox Zero's starting to turn some heads around. @WebHead You sure are dynamic in your predictions for the NX. First, home console! Next, handheld (hybrid)! Now after this Direct, we have to be convinced it's a home console! Why do you want to be so entangled in the Osborne effect that you speak so much of?
Great direct. I'm finally interested in buying 3DS games again. I don't think I bought a single 3DS game at retail last year, as the lineup was just so disappointing. Federation Force looks interesting, though I personally can't play it because it's 1st person. Really glad to see a bunch of localizations.
Star Fox Zero and Pokken Tournament look solid, but Paper Mario Wii U looks awful. But that doesn't bother me, as I've long accepted that the Wii U is a console dedicated to disappointing me.
Overall score: 8/10
Some of the information was presented poorly, but they kept the surprises coming. First good direct in a while IMO.

@Grumblevolcano: Were all the rumors legit? I don't even want to start confirming if that was true.
But it looks like I'll have to agree with you now, but only if it's a home console. Yeah, I'm not sure a home console NX will fly off shelves if it's released this year. I'm still in camp Hybrid because a bunch of rumors (legit or no) doesn't change things for me.
@Vee_Flames: because that's what's legitmately happened to Wii U and 3DS since NX announcement? I used to think handheld but SMD64's leak and the 3ds 2016 schedule has convinced me that it's a home console this year.
How is that Paper Mario game dissapointing? We barely know stuff about it.
Look at the game. There are no unique partners. Very little in terms of engaging story was presented. We can't definitively say it'll be bad, but it's certainly not looking good.

The 3DS schedule doesn't mean much IMO. Nintendo ALWAYS continues support of old handhelds for a while.
On the other hand, the Wii U's lack of news means everything. I was willing to say NX is a handheld as long as Nintendo kept mum about the Wii U's 2016 release schedule. But with the new direct and only one new game, I'm willing to declare the NX to be a console.

I can see both sides of the paper mario perspectives. On one hand, yes, it was a 60 second trailer that isn't indicative of the whole game.
On the other, in those 60 seconds they pretty much confirmed stickers 2.0, or "cards" doing pretty much the same thing that they did in Sticker Star, and the emphasis on multiple toads gives the impression there won't be a focus on original character designs again.
Either way, I think it's safe to say if Nintendo wanted to differentiate the game from Sticker Star, they had a very bad first impression with it.
Hyrule Warriors and Hyrule Warriors Legends are most likely the best Wii U and 3DS games of the whole console cycles respectively. I will be buying the 3DS season pass day 1 like I did with the Wii U season pass in 2014.
Since Nintendo didn't even care enough to show more than a minute about that new Paper Mario game, it's very hard for me to believe that it will be any good.
The direct itself was okay, though.

I have this gut feeling that Nintendo basically express ordered a bunch of Wii U games a while back, knowing they would be coming out with NX.
As a result, Amiibo Festival, Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash, and Paper Mario: Color Splash, all ended up being rushed out quickly.
A full Wii U Animal crossing was converted to a board game.
Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash was stripped down to bare bones elements.
And Paper Mario: Color Splash up-resed Sticker Star models and used a similar engine.
Otherwise, Intelligent Systems doesn't usually reuse Paper Mario styles between main series games.
And before someone mentions Pokken, Star Fox: Zero, or Tokyo Mirage Sessions # FE, all 3 of those games had been in development before 2015.
I'm not sure if the former 3 were really more than an idea before 2015.

Alright! I'm just gonna ignore Paper Mario (ugh...just why?), and go into what I liked:
-New Kirby game! Awesome!
-Kirby series of amiibo! Also awesome!
-Starfox Zero is lookin' great!
-Monster Hunter X localization.
-SNES games on 3DS Virtual Console
-RHYTHM HEAVEN!
-Some more Splatoon content (still hope for Octolings!)
-Mario maker update
What I didn't really care for (not including Paper Mario, which was by far the worst part of the direct for me):
-UFO Kirby being locked behind an amiibo is a bit...cheap.
-Project Guard is no longer it's own thing.
-Don't really care for mario and Sonic.
There is nothing here...except for the stuff I just typed...
Oh yeah, I'm pretty sure that's exactly what they did. The exact thing that they did at E3 2015 with those games, (Amiibo festival, Ultra Smash, Federation Force), and now they did it again to Paper Mario. Man, Nintendo still hasn't learned.
I don't think they did that with Federation Force or any 3DS games. I think Federation Force, Triforce Heroes, and Paper Jam all turned out to be what they were originally planned to be. Federation Force was just misguided, and Triforce Heroes and Paper Jam were getting a second use out of an already made engine for the same system.
I think with Wii U they literally scaled back bigger ideas to something quicker and cheaper, hence the poor quality.
