Dead Cells, the game that seemingly just keeps on giving, has been updated by developer Motion Twin to version 1.19.1, introducing a number of quality-of-life improvements that should make for a better experience for everyone.
While not as substantial as previous updates, there have been a number of improvements to the graphics and UI, along with some general bug fixes. Here are the full patch notes from Motion Twin:
Balancing
- The Dive Attack Fire affix now always triggers, no matter the diving height.
Graphics & UI
- Aligned all the synergy and affixes icons in the item descriptions.
- Moved the controller warning on the Main Menu, to prevent a text overlap.
- Fixed some "List Options" overlapping with their title.
- Removed a little arrow icon displaying on damage pop-ups, when an attack bonus is active. It has been there for years. We don't know if anyone has ever noticed it. But we did.
Quality of life
- The Auto-jump option cannot trigger when climbing a ladder anymore.
Bug fixes
- Fixed not being able to crouch on controller, after updating the game to U29. This fix only prevents the bug from happening when updating the game. If you are currently experiencing this problem, resetting the controls to default fixes it.
- Fixed Pollo Power not triggering "when the effect ends" affixes.
- Fixed a softlock when entering Ossuary with Pollo Power active.
- Fixed a softlock when dying in the Bank's Challenge Room with a Multiple Lives active.
- Fixed a softlock when dying to Timekeeper with Multiple Lives active.
- Fixed a crash where the game would try to compute synergies of non-existing items.
- Fixed a crash when loading a save in Undying Shores.
- Fixed a crash when loading an old save onto U29.
- Fixed a crash when disabling the Crit Feedbacks option in the main menu.
- Fixed mobs' and bosses' life going back to full when reloading a save.
- Fixed The Scarecrow replaying its watering animation everytime a save is reloaded.
- Fixed high priority sounds sometimes cutting off for no apparent reason.
- Fixed a crash on console when trying to display "Glitched" elements with an outline.
- Fixed a lot of cases where the Shop Mimic wouldn't eat its item at the start of the fight.
- Fixed the Update Pop-up showing up everytime the players starts a new run

This has been sitting in my haul of shame for a long long time now
It's soooooo good
The year is 20XX. Climate change and nuclear war have ravaged the Earth to an almost unrecognizable degree. The entire gaming industry lies in ruins.
Suddenly, the remaining survivors on this new Earth receive a cryptic message, from a long forgotten company....
"New Dead Cells update out now!"
2things are infinite: Nintendo stability and DeadCells update.
I really need to give this game a proper go
This game is inspiriational in how many times they update and stay connected to the community.
This is a phenomenal game that's absolutely worth playing. One of the best games of all time in my opinion.
Anyone seen the roadmap for Dead Cells recently? Content scheduled throughout now to end of next year. Game’s never gunna end I swear. What a cracking development team.
I wish to be loved and cared for in life the same way Motion Twin loves and cares for Dead Cells and its community.
Can we shrink down or remove the ui yet? I’d like to be able to make it smaller like in minecraft
@Manxman64 your post wins the internet
Someday I'll get that second cell...
@TomekKowal fully agree. I have this game but there is no time to play cause I am busy doing the infinite updates
What a great time to be a gamer!
@Gofixmeaplate Dead Cells on PC recently got a huge quality-of-life and accessibility update that (finally!) let you change the size and opacity of the in-game HUD, among other things. I'm not sure if it's out on the Switch version yet but if not I'm sure it will be soon.
These guys put more effort into freely updating and expanding on Dead Cells than EA has put into updating the Switch FIFA games.
@coconut-gun good to know! I will have to check! There was an update like Friday of last week. I will have to look in the accessibility section. Thanks
I dont remember even having a crouch option, but I stopped playing long ago. While Dead Cells is one of the best feeling Metroidvania style games to play, I just cannot get behind Roguelikes, despite my trying with this and Hades.
Both great games, but both games I would have preferred to be single player narrative games. Perhaps with an added roguelike mode for those fans.
Still glad to see these developers enjoy their massive successes.
@Kang81 In my opinion, Hades character progression and the quality of the story evolving during the multiple runs are so we'll done that it could be considered a classic single player game, with extremely well hidden roguelike mechanics
@Gardhul
It is much more accessible with the inclusion of God Mode at least. Still, repeating so much just to get to the story is tiresome for me.
