Update 2: Following the delay mentioned below, the distribution of the Galarica Wreath – an item necessary to evolve a Galarian Slowpoke into a Galarian Slowking – is now live in Pokémon Sword and Shield for a very limited time. You can get the item by entering code CR0WNF1NALS on the Mystery Gift screen in-game.
The code will only remain valid until 2:59pm UTC tomorrow, Sunday 7th February (thanks, Serebii). That's 6:59am PT / 9:59am ET / 3:59pm CET.
Update 1: Sadly, Serebii reports that the Tournament Finals during which the special code was planned to be distributed has been delayed, meaning that it may be a little while before you can get your hands on the free Galarica Wreath:
Original Article (Fri 11th Dec, 2020 14:30 GMT): Next week, Pokémon Sword and Shield players will be able to easily get their hands on one of the game's more awkward-to-obtain items.
During the South Korean Pokémon Sword and Shield Crown Tournament, which is set to be livestreamed online, a distribution code will be released which grants players one Galarica Wreath. This special item is the only way to evolve a Galarian Slowpoke into a Galarian Slowking, so collectors and Pokédex completionists will want to grab it while they can.
Serebii reports that the code will "run for just 24 hours from the start of the event to 14:59 UTC December 20th." Codes aren't region-locked, so you'll be able to get the Galarica Wreath no matter where you're based once the code is shared.
It's worth pointing out that you can get a Galarica Wreath in-game without using a special code, but it's one of the more time-consuming items to obtain. To get one, you'll need to find no less than 15 Galarica Twigs – an already relatively rare item itself – and hand them over to an NPC in The Crown Tundra's Roaring-Sea Caves. If you're struggling to find them, this will be a great opportunity to speed up the process.

A nice gesture anyway.
Though makes me wonder why a regular King's Rock won't work for a Galarian Slowpoke, unlike it's Kantonian cousin.
Is this availabile for players without DLC? Does that make the Slowpoke I caught in Wedgehurst in my ongoing Nuzlocke actually viable now?
Galarcia twigs are rare? I keep finding them everywhere
Time consuming? Seriously? This is a very easy item to obtain.
A freebie is always nice sure but let's not act like this one is a huge deal.
The items aren't rare at all, it's just a crappy clickbait title... And clearly it worked, because we're all here commenting about it. =D
Well, also consider this.
It'll make the evolution item accessible for players who haven't purchased the expansion pass.
@Munchlax afaik... yup.
I mean you can already trade for "DLC" pokémons without owning the DLC yourself
@Morgan19 thing is that -technically- make this evolution available for players WITHOUT the DLC. Especially as Galarian slowpoke was given in-game to players to hint at the DLC without owning it iirc as the pokemon was introduced in a free update rather than the DLC itself
I have the wreath & never knew what it did! Guess I’ll be evolving a Galarian Slowpoke today.
I agree with other posters. The Galarian Twigs are quite easy to obtain. I mean, there's a sparkle at just about every tree. Chances are it's a Galarian Twig.
I do get this making it easier for those who didn't buy the DLC. But I'm not sure why this article wouldn't lead with that sentiment instead.
Well... I already got my zombie
@Munchlax hmmm
"A huge time-saver"
Oh thank god, I don't have to spent 15 minutes to get the item lol
Found this to help with UTC conversion to your local time to get the right time to download it.

It's really not that hard to get hold of one guys
Got both evolution items without even trying to at all, it's not THAT rare.
give us the wooper
Cool for people without the DLC, but really underwhelming if you do. Galarica Twigs are not by any chance rare, so this isn't really a big deal. But if it's meant for those without the DLCs, makes me wonder why it's just a code for the Wreath and not the Cuff too.
@RupeeClock : I assume that Galarian Slowking wasn't meant to be obtainable in The Isle Armour, so they had to introduce an evolution technique that would not be possible to execute before the release of The Crown Tundra.
Time to fire up Pokemon and get my bottle cap and Apman pokemon.
Delayed, just like Slowpoke.
Are the twigs really that difficult to find? I had enough to make 4 wreaths.
Just another example of Nintendo not being consumer friendly. They could have had this ready on time but are just sticking it to their loyal fans, who deserve everything for free.
You could say the event was a bit... Slow! HAHAHAHAHA
What is the “global situation”? As far as I know, nothing has really changed recently, so I don’t get why an event would be scheduled and then delayed
Are we talking code or online or what???
So anyone get codes update???
@Morgan19 I actually appreciated the update, you jive turkey.
Slowking is one of my favourite Pokémon of all, so I am quite disappointed with the rather ugly Galarian variants of the Slowpoke line.
Good for those who don't have the DLC though.
@Morgan19 LOL. What a pointless comment to write and post on this article.
@Morgan19 I wouldn't have checked if the story hadn't been updated and reposted, and I don't have the DLC, so I appreciate it.
@JustMe
Time is money, friend. 😋
Me, seeing this at 12:30pm EST: Oh.
I seen it Saturday, then totally forgot.... ooops!
Well guess I missed this. Too bad Game Freak and Nintendo don't seem to offer any kind of notifications on the Switch in any real way. Yeah there's the News app but that's always super slow on any kind of update and frankly it's not that helpful. Would have been nice if this popped up on the startup screen to remind me because I was on the Switch briefly checking my ACNH Festivale items.
