Exactly a week ago, Level-5 released a new trailer for its upcoming Switch game Yo-Kai Watch 4 at World Hobby Fair Winter 2019. This clip provided a glimpse of the world you'll be able to explore and the Yo-Kai you can expect to encounter in battle.
If this wasn't enough to satisfy you, Level-5 has now uploaded a direct-feed gameplay video of the playable demo at this same event. Once again Keita - the original protagonist of the series and one of the many playable human characters in the latest game - is in the spotlight. World Hobby Fair Winter 2019 began in Nagoya on 19th January and is currently in Tokyo. It will run from 26th to 27th February in Osaka. View the latest footage below:
As a bonus, CoroCoro has also uploaded a six-minute off-screen gameplay video:
Yo-Kai Watch 4 arrives this spring in Japan. At the moment, there's no word about when this game will arrive in the west. For now, you'll just have to make do with the third entry - Yo-kai Watch 3 - which was first released in Japan in 2016 and recently made available in Europe at the end of 2018. The US release of this 3DS title is due out next month on 8th February. Here's a new promotional trailer for the third entry:
Are you pumped for more Yo-Kai Watch action? Have you played the third game? Let us know in the comments.

Dunno why I want this
Don’t kno squat about yo-kai but I def wanna play this 😂
So, how many years until this one gets localised to the West?
First, fans of other series complained how battle in YW was not engaging enough, but now I can see them complaining that it's too complicated.
Exploring Springdale/Sakura Town in full 3D is going to be a treat.
Can’t wait! Love Yo-Kai Watch!!
By the time Yokai Watch 6 releases in Japan we will get Yokai 4 in English...Yeeaah! not
Keep it for yourself Level 5, you don't need us, we don't need you.
That live-action combat looks like a nice change of pace after the wheel system in the first two 3DS titles; I don't dislike the latter per se, but it only really shines in boss battles IMO.
I think it’s finally time for me to get into this series. Hopefully 1 and 2 are cheap by now.
Wow, it's looking better and better! Cool!
I want this, and I want this THIS year! Please Level 5!
Frame rate definitely got the fix it needed. It's still there, but this is acceptable.
Really excited about this. Thank goodness Switch is region free.
Game looks fabulous.
When will they localize it though, that's the question
I want this so bad.
Being in love with YW since the beginning and those delays to bring it to the occident is really annoying.
All that horribly stiff animation imposed on such fun designs.
And the designers have decided to go with outlines on characters, but they're so thin, they don't help the focus, and they don't look hand-drawn either.
The backgrounds and their colors are nice and pleasant in general, but overall I can't say I'm smitten with the visuals.
@IHateTombs Thats what alot of people have been saying, but I think this game just makes him look taller rather than him having aged in the series. Then again, it is possible he has aged a bit since the games do take place further and further in his life.
I really hope this game releases in the West much faster than older games. Heck I'll even take A Japanese Dub with English Subtitles if it means we can get it over here faster.
As usual Level5 looks like they will not disappoint.
Hope it comes west soon. NinoKuni 2 DLC will not last 🙄
@Preposterous I am so psyched! How anyone doesn't appreciate Yokai Watch is beyond me. The first game was good enough but the second and third games expanded the universe so much. This is a dream come true. I think I'll buy the US version of #3 and the Japanese version of #4 and sell it if they ever translate it.
@goomba478 Some key mechanics did not work out as well as they could have in the first two games, so I can understand how it was met with a lukewarm reception in the west (personally it captivated me with its theme and aesthetics), but the third one is just incredible and definitely among my favourite titles on the 3DS.
I'm hopeful for a relatively swift release of 4 in the west, if only because it would be a sound business decision to catch that huge Switch audience while the system is still hot.
@EasyDaRon not trying to start a war or anything, but if we compare just the gameplay, ambience and visual, YW makes pokemon looks cheap since the very first YW.
It's absurd how good the game looks and run on the 3DS while pokemon is a barebone game with a more direct approach over the battle system.
YW never lost the WOW effect on me every time I start playing it.
Looks great, just wish they could make the moving through doors a bit more seamless. BotW has spoiled me.
And they don't want to make a Pokemon game like that ? I mean, with some "INNOVATION" ?
Cuz this game actually looks pretty neat
Every time I see this game it just looks better. Seriously, I've had almost zero interest in the Yo-kai Watch series for as long as it's been around, but I'm genuinely hyped for this entry. The graphics, the world, the gameplay, the music, and may I say again the graphics, everything just looks awesome! This game's visuals seem on par with a lot of Level 5's PS4 games like Ni No Kuni, so it's awesome to see how they've squeezed such beautiful graphics out of the comparatively-diminutive Switch. I really hope that this game gets localized soon! It looks stunning, and I can't wait to play it.
Looks cool, definitely has me interested for the switch version of yo-kai
Blimey! This looks very slick!
@gloom You should just get YW 3. It's like Pokemon, they aren't connected
So much personality seems to be packed into Yokai Watch 3. I finished the first game and it was pretty darn awesome. I bought the second game and just... never played it. xD Too many other games that have my attention, I guess. But Yokai Watch 3 seems SO fun! But back on topic.
I'd love it if Yokai Watch 4 made it West-ward before the end of this year, but I'm not gonna hold my breath. I'm... not too fond of how oddly-proportioned Keita looks though. Does he seem a bit weird to anyone else? Or is it just me?
They better bring this to the us!
These look more fun by the day. Can't wait to play them ^_^
The more I see this game, the more I like it.
Thanks for LEVEL-5 Showcases Yo-kai Watch 4 Big Fan of the Yo-kai Watch Series I Hope We’ll Get a Faster Localization Thanks LEVEL-5
