Japanese developer Kairosoft continues to release its small-sized but highly addictive simulation games on the Switch eShop.
Starting out with Game Dev Story, Hot Springs Story and Dungeon Village in October, followed by Venture Towns towards the end of last year, Mega Mall Story will now arrive locally on 17th January.
In this title, your job is to design a towering mall of mega proportions while attracting droves of customers and elevating your mall's status to five-stars. You'll be able to add in fast food joints, stairs and elevators. As your establishment becomes increasingly popular you can invest in the surrounding areas to bring in even more customers.
To celebrate this upcoming release, Kairosoft released the following trailer via its Twitter account:
Have you played any of the Kairosoft games on the Switch so far? Will you be adding Mega Mall Story to your digital library? Tell us below.

The more of these games they release, the less I'm tempted to try one. Wouldn't have a clue which one to buy.
@BenAV Just pick one relevant to your interests. Myself, I got Hot Springs Story because I like the atmosphere of Japanese onsen.
@BenAV there's demos for a few of them on the eshop. Give them a whirl.
Game Dev Story is a lot of fun, I have it on my phone. I would def recommend that one. Much simpler to understand than Dungeon Village or Venture Towns, which I also have on my phone.
They're good but dangerous; the game dev one gave me a bad thumb when I couldn't stop playing it on my mobile several years ago (Seriously, had to undergo surgery for my hand haha. Never felt more embarrassed than when explaining how my hand could have had so much strain to the doctor.)
@Illusion I suppose. Not huge on demos though, can't really be bothered making the effort. I'll worry about it when they're on sale I guess, haha.
@molkom Lol, I’m surprised I haven’t had to visit the doc for game related hand surgery. Those that have ever had to do the “claw” manuveur to play certain games will know exactly what I’m talking about.
For those that don’t, “claw” is where push right side face buttons with the side your right index finger while still controlling camera with your right thumb and using middle finger for trigger.
Honestly can’t remember which games I’ve used it on, but thinking third or first person style.
Mega mall is great fun, I have this for mobile and its well worth it if you have not played it. Its really best with touchscreen, so one for on the go switch gaming. Super addictive and a fair amount of replay - should keep you busy for about 10hours or so, only worth getting at about £8 or less.
I get the feeling the series of games they made are all the same gameplay wise, just a different jacket.
@Kaizoku They are very similar, Id just get one or 2 that interests you most rather than trying them all cause it will get repetitive from game to game, there are some differences and improvements in the more recent games that the older ones like game dev dont have though.
I bought Game Dev Story and was immediately put off by the fact that in-game text would run along to the next line mid-word. What a stupid, stupid, stupid design choice. I find it equally intolerable when that occurs in books. Judging from the demo of the other games, these appear to be the same sorts of games with only the variation of themes to distinguish them.
Game Dev Tycoon on mobile is a much, much better experience. I would double-dip in a heartbeat if that gets ported to Switch.
@Dm9982 monster Hunter was famous for the claw grip...
already have a few on mobile don't think i will bother getting them for the switch
It's just like, a mega... mall.
Love the Kairosoft sim games. Played the demo for Dungeon Village last night actually, but I can't abide their games costing twice as much on Switch so waiting for a sale.
As far as the above trailer....there's 29 seconds I'll never get back.
BUT, I'm interested to see what the game is all about. Years ago I worked in a mall for 5 years straight...it was interesting to some degree to say the least.
@jsty3105 Lol yup, now I remember.... loads of hours on MH3/4/Gen clawing it up. 😆
Thinkin I also did that with other Capcom games too....
I saw this on apple news and thought it said mega man...
tricked again I see
The closest thing I've played to this one was Mall Tycoon back in the day. Let's just say young me was MUCH better at theme park management.
Ah, I'm a pretty big Kairosoft fan and played most of their games on Android. Among the best business management games available.
Unfortunately, they got a bit stale with time. Still fun though, Game Dev Story is a classic. Out of these (besides Game Dev Story) I'd go with Mega Mall Story narrowly followed by Dungeon Village.
If it's really cheap, I'll pick it up. If it's more than a few dollars and/or includes micro transactions (like most of these types of made-for-mobille games, I will not get it.
These are really good games, I have loads of the on my phone. I'd probably double dip on a few for Switch too but not at the £8 asking price, that's way too much
