We've just got word that Aksys Games will be bringing Little Dragons Café, the latest tour de' force by renowned game designer Yasuhiro Wada, to the Nintendo Switch sometime toward the end of Summer this year.
Wada is most well-known for creating the popular Bokujō Monogatari series (published under the names Harvest Moon and Story of Seasons outside of Japan) as well as Birthdays the Beginning. Over his twenty years in the game industry, he has also collaborated with other designers on titles, such as Deadly Premonition.
Here's what Akibo Shieh, founder and CEO of Aksys Games, had to say about this exciting release:
Wada and I have been friends for a decade, and we've discussed teaming up on a new IP for about half that time. It wasn't until Little Dragons Café that our schedules finally lined up so we were able to work together on a project, and the game has been in development for two years now.
Here's some more PR:
The story opens with a twin brother and sister learning to cook and manage a small café under their mother's tutelage. All was peaceful and routine until one morning when the twins discover that their mother has fallen into a deep sleep and won't wake up. Suddenly, a strange old man appears to inform them that they must raise a dragon in order to save her. Working together with three quirky café employees, the two siblings must figure out how to a wrangle a dragon and manage the family business while finding a way to save their mother.
Here are some of the features which you can expect to find in Little Dragons Café:
- Dragon Husbandry - Embrace your parental instincts and raise your very own dragon! Through wise decisions, proper nutrition, and empathetic nurturing show the world the true potential of your dragon companion!
- Culinary Capitalism - Learn new recipes and master the art of cooking while running your very own café. Explore the world, discover new ingredients, and expand your menu (and your restaurant) while catering to the whims of your customers.
- Grow Your Own - The tastiest dishes use the freshest ingredients, and the best way to insure that is to grow your own produce. Till the land and fish the rivers to gather the most flavorful fixings for your signature dishes.
- Serve the People - Feeding is nurturing, so you not only cook for your neighbors, but also help them with their problems to increase your popularity and the general happiness of everyone around you.
We are partial to a bit of dragon husbandry here at Nintendo Life, so we're going to keep our eyes peeled for this one. Do you plan to pay a visit to the Little Dragons Café later this Summer?

How to train your Dragon Harvest Moon style confirmed.
Sounds promising for sure. I’m a little unclear how the dragon raising aspect ties into the rest of the game mechanics, but I’m sure that will be clear later.
Could be interesting. Hopefully we get to see a trailer in the next Direct if not E3, though could very well see the first trailer coming out on the internet :+).
I will at least keep an eye on it.
Ooo...now this does sound interesting I'll admit. :V
This sounds interesting. Can't wait for the trailer of this game
Looks like it'll have a certain Neopets appeal, which is interesting to see.
interested.
It's so crazy it might just work. I like these games that are combinations of styles/genres, like Ever Oasis and Fantasy Life.
As long it isn't that Harvest Moon Light of Hope game and it's like the older and better games like that, sign me up
Awesome
Any chance of this getting a physical release?
I see dragons I get interested. The closest thing to Harvest Moon I have ever played is Animal Crossing, but sounds like it could be cute and fun.
This sounds really interesting to me. I will have to remember this in the future.
@wratih9 Yeah, Fantasy Life was on my mind the second I saw that artwork. Sounds like a winner!
@Gaisaph The Harvest Moon series is not the same game anymore the old harvest moon is now called Story of Seasons this new Harvest Moon games are not made by Marvelous anymore they are made from Natsume that was originaly only the publisher, in resume the series you are looking for is Story of Seasons not Harvest Moon.
@Ryllow Wow that is certainly... confusing. So if I were to call the old harvest moon, it's called Story of Seasons?
@Gaisaph It's really strange but yes, Marvelous the original developer change publishers but the name harvest moon was created by Natsume and they have the rights to it, so Marvelous and the new publisher (XSEED Games ) Change the name of the original series to Story of Seasons, sorry i not good with explanations , but they are some videos on youtube that explain this game confusion with much more details.
@Ryllow lol it's okay I understood what you've said
@Gaisaph All the recent "Harvest Moon" games (since 2014) haven't been made by the original team. They're made by the former publishers, Natsume, who've basically been making bootleg Harvest Moon games ever since their contract with the genuine Harvest Moon developers (Marvelous Interactive) ended. The genuine continuation of the Harvest Moon (also known as Bokujō Monogatari) games is Story of Seasons. There are two proper Harvest Moon games under that new name on the 3DS and I'm constantly told that they're quite good.
