Rocket League coming to the Switch was a huge win for Nintendo, with a multiplayer focus that paired perfectly with the Switch’s on-the-go mentality. The inclusion of cross-platform play was a great boon, too, as it allowed new Switch users to connect with the massive fanbase that has existed on other platforms since the game came out years back.
Psyonix is clearly not planning on dropping support for Rocket League on Switch or any other platform soon, and recently announced some plans for how it will improve it later on this year. A cross-platform party system will be showing up soon, which will allow players from different consoles in the same party to seamlessly move between matches. There's no news on when we can expect to see it, but hopefully the wait won't be too long.
What do you think? Do you play Rocket League often? Would you take advantage of this new party system? Share your thoughts in the comments below.

More the merrier!
But still not with Playstation, right?
@CasNicks Of course, Sony doesn't play nice.
Nice. Having to make a private room to play with my Xbox One friends is annoying.
unfortunately,we coulden’t play Rocket League in Iran ...
I don’t know why 😭
I played Rocket League last summer on my
PS4
Frankly. Rocket League one of the best games i have played.
Why we aren’t allow to play Rocket League in our country
It’s not my fault they have problem with our government.
This is the ultimate multiplayer support. Devs that put this much effort into their multiplayer gameplay need to be supported at all costs.
I’ve done private matches with my PC, XBO X and Switch and have friends on all platforms. Cross platform parties for matchmaking would truly solidify Rocket League as one of my favourite games of all time.
I doubt it'll drive me to play online. Rocket league is my go to game with my friends in local and I'm very happy that way.
One of my best gaming moments with the switch is bringing two of my friends round and as I only had 1 tv, I didn’t know how to get all 3 of us onto a screen. As a result I got the two of them on splitscreen rocket league on the pc with me on the switch in a private match. I want every game to be crossplatform - if Fortnite or Overwatch come to switch it is vital for them to be for their survival.
I doubt I'll ever take advantage of the new party system personally but it's certainly a welcome addition.
Please make PS4 - Switch cross play available Sony... I want to play with my friends
I am utterly terrible at this game, and too embarrassed to play online!
It’s annoying because my household and most of my friends are all either Sony or Nintendo or both
Video capture would be good
Great to me, keeps the online community alive.
Awesome!
Oh, it is on.
Epic, now we will have enough people for a team cause my best friend has xbo. ^_^
I've got it on Steam (for Linux). I'm ready!
Hopefullt cross-platform play and parties will be the norm before long.
@Bondi_Surfer I typically don't do online gaming (other than Splatoon or Smash for Wii U). And I am awful at this game. But its probably some of the most fun I've had in gaming in a long time. I know with more practice, I'll eventually get better.
This is great. May more developers attempt stuff like this, and may the Rocket League team receive some well deserved praise.
Couldn't ask for more. Definitely excited. Now I can show my friends who's boss (Spoiler alert: not me)
Super excited! I tried to do a party online together with my cousin who has the Xbox One version and it was a seemingly easily fixed oversight. Glad they're delivering on this.
@Henbush
That won't happen, if it did it would be Local only.
Nice! Just got this game and I'm really loving it! I really suck at it but I still love it.
