Japanese studio Delta Arts has closed, it has been announced.
The company has been responsible for the major instalments in the Medabots series since 2010, and also created Tenkai Knights: Brave Battle on 3DS.
The last Medabots release it worked on was Medabots 9, which launched in Japan last year. The most recent entry - the spin-off Medabots: Girls Mission - was produced by Rocket Co., Ltd and not Delta Arts.
The original Medabots - known as Medarot in Japan - was developed for the Game Boy by Natsume and published by Imagineer back in 1997. Since then it has remained a Nintendo-focused franchise, with sequels arriving on the Game Boy Advance, GameCube and Nintendo DS.

That's a shame but what's the reason for closing down, just poor finances?
I can't say that I've played any of these games myself, but it's still always a shame to hear about a studio closing.
Was anyone else introduced to Medabots by the anime when it premiered on Fox Kids in the U.S.? I loved that show-- Heck, that whole Saturday morning lineup was the best.
@jump That's what I'd like to know.
...And you beat my comment by less than a minute.
RIP
Who's going to purchase them?(or their properties)
@Thegentleman Thankfully, I don't think they own any of the franchises they have worked on.
A shame to hear they closed since they worked for six years on one of my favourite franchises, even if "thanks" to a lack of localization I never got the chance to play any of their Medabots' games.
Would be rude to still desperately hoping to see their games released here one day even if they are dead? ^^;
New Medabots lost me. I reeeaaally don't like it.
Older Medabots games are pretty good, but I suggest just sticking with that sexy, classic, anime.
I hate to hear this but I'd be more upset if I actually got to play Medabot games. Alas no localization.
This is unfortunate. Too bad I only ever got the GBA rpg ones that were localized. I wonder if importing one of the DS ones would be worth my time because I haven't got a new one in soo long.
@Thegentleman Don't think they owned the Medabots name. Not sure about the rest of what they worked on - publishers might own the IPs to those.
It's always a shame to see a stupid close, but I have I say never heard of them prior to this.
Wonder if this means the GBA Medabots games on the Wii U VC will be taken down soon....
I used to watch the Medabots anime a long time ago.
@NIN10DOXD. Ok !
@Damo well im just worried about the virtual console releases in general since the medabots games haven't left japan in a while (now they will absolutely not unless imported)
