Ken Levine is a pretty big name in the video game industry. The mind behind such seminal titles as Thief: The Dark Project, System Shock 2 and BioShock, Levine's one of those figures who could potentially make third party support for the Wii U explode if he decided to jump on board himself - but sadly, that doesn't look like it's going to happen any time soon.
In an interview with Destructoid, Levine was asked if he had any news to impart regarding Nintendo's latest system:
We never had any news on the Wii U. I bought one and I like it. I play games on it! But in terms of development, nothing is brewing right now.
So it would appear that Levine is a fan of the new console - which is a huge positive - but his involvement is purely for his own personal entertainment at present, rather than in a professional capacity. Let's hope that doesn't remain the case forever - BioShock Infinite is exactly the kind of third party release we want to see on the Wii U.

Me thinks he needs a visit from shiggy.
c'mon whats the real reason the cream of the crop third party games arent mentioned at all when it comes to wiiu im talking metal ger solid : ground zeroes, GTA V, far cry 3, final fantasy, and this i mean something else is going on behind the scenes that i wish was just clarafied no more reggie nonsense just put us out of our misery.
Create something better and make it WiiU exclusive
come on, just bring improved ports of bioshock 1,2 and infinite i know you wan't our money =D
Yeah, nothing like bringing ports to the Wii U that won't sell.
Ken, I swear to god! I will give you all my money for a Wii U version of Bioshock Infinite!
This is not good news, I thought they were porting the new bioshock to the Wii U?? I cant see why any of the third parties dont want their games on another console....doesnt make any sense unless they still see nintendo as a kiddie console, and with news of this adult time restrictions set for downloading, they aint helping themselves at all. i just wanna get Nintendo n shake them!!!
this console has so much potential. bring it on nintendo!
That's fine. I plan on eventually buying the entire Bioshock Trilogy for like $10 on Steam. Wii U would not be able to match that.
Keep your cool everyone. He clearly said nothing is brewing RIGHT NOW. That doesn't mean forever
I follow Ken on Twitter and he was bragging about the Wii U a while back when he got one. He really seems to like it. Hopefully that will be a sign of things to come!
Just give me Bioshock Infinite please for Wii U
The Bioshock series is extremely overrated. The controls and shooting mechanics are god awful for a FPS. If it had these controls and was your standard military shooter, it would have been called garbage.
I predict he will see the light soon enough and publish on wii u. The only thing hampering him is his so called loyalty to Sony; if he publishes it here he may be giving them the backhand. A lot of developers have some side negotiations, but they all want to switch to the money train.
Come on, Levine! If you like it, develop for it! I hate FPS games but I actually enjoy the Bioshock games.
@CactusJackson
Agreed, the Wii U doesn't need ports of already released games it needs new experiences.
I'm seeing a really late port like with Bioshock 1 and the PS3.
