Score Attack mode is almost all that I play in this game, I haven't even beaten the second loop in the game's standard mode because it's so frustrating and pointless. I made this thread because I was wondering how my fellow WiiWarians were doing against those nasty Bacterian bastards! Here's a decent format for posting your scores... I think.

Difficulty: Normal
Current Rank: 36
Score: 498040
Stage Reached: 2-2
Ship Type: D

How are you guys/gals faring in score attack? Oh, and no lying!

If you set it to Very Easy and max continues, it's not that frustrating. I finished the whole game, and I've never beaten a Gradius game before; actually, I've never gotten past the second level of a Gradius game before.

I haven't played Score Attack. I'll have to give it a try soon to compare.

In Score Attack, you start off with only 2 extra lives (but you rack up more lives pretty quickly) and you need to get as many points as you can before getting a game over. After that, your score is uploaded online and you can see where you rank among other players in the same region as you. There are 5 different leaderboards, one for each difficulty setting. I think it's just fun just to see if you can top your old high score!

I'll be setting up an official competion, complete with prizes, when the game finally comes out in PAL territories. Hopefully Corbie or one of the other NA shmuppers can cover the NA half, so everyone gets a chance to compete.

I don't play it all the time, but when I do I play Score Attack. I've made it to the boss after the Moai Heads, but was unable to determine a strategy for beating it.

I'll simply have to try again!

Well, if you want to know my general strategy...

You want to be in the bottom left corner when the fight starts off. Fly to the right when it shoots the fast lasers at you. When it starts to shoot the slow lasers, slowly back up to the bottom left corner again by tapping the d-pad just enough to avoid the shots. After you're near the bottom left corner, you should fly up and get in position to get some free shots off before it starts to bounce around. After this, things become more chaotic. Just keep in mind that the lightning doesn't hurt you, it's just an indication of where a Moai Head is going to pop up. It's generally a good idea to take out as many of those Moai Heads as you can before the boss goes back to the center. Repeat as necessary.

It's not fool proof... but it's something.
