So, I had heard a lot of praise for this game, particularly about how it was a bit like a 2D Silent Hill. Which is high praise as far as I'm concerned. However, speaking of concern, I had my doubts on getting this game. I mean, a game being a risk has clearly not been a problem for me with eShop games it seems, but I've never been that big into survival horror, like legit survival horror. Whenever I play them, I just lose interest and gameplay-wise it doesn't do much for me as I'm not that into horror in general. My only really positive experience with these games were online playthroughs and mostly Silent Hill 2. Otherwise, I tend to prefer Dead Space action horror stuff or something.

But I will say after a half hour of this (might've been more if I didn't feel I was too tired to continue appreciating it), this is really good. The gameplay isn't awkward or annoying (so far), the atmosphere is great and I'm interested in where it's going. Assuming the story is going where I think it's going, there's even some humor that adds to the horror, which is something I appreciate.

I heard the map/knowing where you are is a pain due to the 2D side-scrolling aspect. Seems a little pricey atm for a 5-hour game so I may pick it up when it goes on sale.

I really want to play this on the Wii U but I got it on Steam from a humble bundle a while ago (still haven't played it) and can't justify spending $13 on a game I already own. When it goes on sale I will probably get it

Yes, it's a 5 hour game, first time, one playthrough.
But it has at least 4 different endings I read, so that's approx. 20 hours for completion.
I got this on Wii U a few days ago, beat it yesterday, and was very surprised how addictive it was.
The ending statistics offered insight on how sensitive the game is on the many unconscious choices you can make.
And I learnt how much I missed. It's much deeper than I thought.

And I was playing on hard mode, where you cannot show a map and shut off any object interaction indicators. It was different to any other hard mode. I wish I had the map in the dark basement, but I made it through with... yeah luck I suppose.

This really is a great game. I'm a huge fan of Silent Hill, and it definitely borrows a bit from that series, but I feel it has enough original ideas to stand on it's own. I've already played through on PC and Vita though, so I likely won't get the Wii U release. (It would be very cool to play on the Gamepad with headphones in a dark room...)

I found it to be extremely fun and it really does seem like a high quality game. Its one of the highest quality of horror games that we have on Wii U, besides maybe ZombiU. It does have its pitfalls with the map being confusing to use, which would have been amazing if they had just put it on the bottom screen. However, it has a great atmosphere and is fun to play after you get a handle of the controls.

This game just came out on Wii U and is now in a Humble Flash Bundle for PC... I wonder if it will effect Wii U sales

Well i bought this game and is still amazing. I bought and played it on my PC a long time ago, i bought it again just to play it on my gamepad with earphones on and in the dark.By my experience with the game now i remember why it's so critically acclaimed.

The Harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph. When the going gets tough, the tough gets going.

This is honestly the only game I'm super motivated to play right now out of like the 6 I'm playing. Mostly not the fault of the other games, but this one I just want to play a bit of every day. So that's a strong sign for a survival horror game that it's outdoing a Zelda-like game and a critically acclaimed JRPG for importance from me.

This game was so good, I might just replay it and try to get a better ending next year.
