1. The ability to transfer everything from your original Wii while erasing the original's data entirely. The ability to transfer accounts to the Wii 2. Afterward, the original system can't have anything downloaded to it. 2. Updates for all VC and WiiWare games. Examples: Game Boy Color ads replace Wii/DS ads in Wave Race 64 Any glitches or goofs fixed N64 games updated to feature vibration All other peripherals accounted for (e.g. the ghost feature in Mario Kart 64) The Legend of Zelda updated to feature a map in its digital manual 3. Zapper and Super Scope games 4. Saturn games (even if they have to be 1200+ points), Sega CD and Super FX games 5. Re-creations of past controlers and a new Power Pad 6. When you select a VC game on the menu, it should have a picture of the original cartridge or disc 7. Make the weather, photo, and news channels optional 8. Better firewall compatibility 9. The ability to use the remote during a Gamecube game to return to the menu (or at least turn the Wii off) 10. CD and DVD compatibility
1. A 20 GB or more hard drive 2. A "normal" controller bundled with the console 3. Quality control for third party games 4. More options for avatars/Miis 5. It needs to be stronger than the 360/PS3 6. A free Internet Channel that comes with the console. 7. Demos for every downloadable game.
The ability to make pizza The ability to fire laser beams The ability to call in an armada of spaceships to destroy worlds The ability to make my bed The ability to turn into a beautiful woman The ablility to do my homework The ability to ROCK And the ability to grant my wishes should I ever bring seven of them together and summon the immortal dragon.

1. Everything transferable from Wii to Wii 2 including VC games and Miis.
2. New Mii parts and skin colors
3. For the same Wii shop to work on both Wii and Wii 2 (like how Rock Band and Rock Band 2 share the same DLC) except also have stuff exclusive to Wii 2, like Gamecube on VC (since I doubt it would have GC compatability).
4. HD
5. CD and DVD player

I disagree with all these people saying the Wii needs a hard drive. Keep all memory solid state, it may be more expensive, but is much more reliable, quieter, and efficient.

ok, back on topic and I better get into my resident condescending-know-it-all persona.
1. yeah, obviously it'd be HD and about on par with the current 360/ PS3 specs
2. I agree that external HDD's are pretty risky to run from. But despite the wait, the current solution for games was a pretty good idea. I'm no computer expert but maybe include more internal solid state memory; 3-5 gigs and then allow for OPTIONAL larger external HDD storage for more and larger games that can be loaded to internal just for when you play to keep things moving fast. Keep a bit of a file size limit on WW games so we can fit at least 20-30 on our internal memory. Seems more like an ideal system to me and solid state is pretty reliable for at least a few years. Maybe keep it somewhat 'nintendo' accessible in case it breaks down so it can be easily replaced or expanded later.
3. Design it like the original nes, but all glossy white with a solid black stripe around it and sharper corners. Like a pastry box look with a black stripe on the right side and only the power button and red led on the left. So it'd have a glossy modernized NES look. That'd be cool and really get the older gamers, plus it'd still be small but larger enough to house better hardware.
4. At least play regular dvds out of the box since we all have them and (upconvert them to HD 1080p),
5. come with a good browser Pre-installed, built in usb keyboard access
6. have a netflix player deal like the others out of box, and
7. more prominently feature the online material in one place, pre-installed (like apple products it should ask you how you want to set up online when you turn it on first, though I think newer Wii's do that now, right?)
8. More streamlined access to friends almost like an email system. (why not have an optional wireless keyboard and a dedicated channel for friend mail, all set up on a simple channel or just by clicking a Mii that says "send message?" then type a message to that Mii and send it. I know thats risky for Nintendo, but if it's simple and blocks dirty words and no pictures unless you're allowed as a Mii Friend or allowed by parental access to accept images, thats enough. All people really want is communication, obviously the stupid walking around in virtual worlds to meet people and play mini-games online is not what most consumers really want. I wish I could easily just turn on my wii, click my Mii friend in California and send a note.
9. on that note, just a little more customization for Mii's would be nice, just a couple more outfits, more color, curly hair, more mouths, shoes, and more size variation; it's otherwise great and doesn't need much more; Just a basic upgrade from the current channel.
10. The big one for me is what we've all been praying for. KEEP the Current WW and VC channels and continue it with the next system. Find a way to let us keep our purchases and keep doing it. There are so many classics on there that are now preserved wonderfully, just keep it up and transfer it, it's a fantastic gateway to the glory of so many past systems. I love that some great stuff I see in thrift stores that I was afraid would vanish with the dead broken systems is captured on VC so well; don't kill that archive or change it too much, it's most of the reason I love my Wii so much.

Awwwwww...now that's a fantastic comment to come into a thread and see (though maybe the non-dumb part was a little of a strech ). Thank you very much, Ren, that very much made my day.

Why is everyone calling it "Wii2" or "WiiHD"? Never has only stuck to a console name once, and the name currently sucks.
Oh. My. God! Someone actually agrees with me about the whole "Wii 2/HD" will never exist thing! HALLELUJAH!!!

a lot of people agree it's not going to be called that. in fact, most reasoning human beings who are into videogames at all will agree. but right now we don't have anything else to call it, so why not Wii2/WiiHD? there's really wrong with that as a tentative title. or would you rather we refer to it as the Nintendo On?
