I haven't played this game yet. I remember wanting this game when it first came out but I was never able to find a copy of it in any retail stores. I haven't heard much about it so I don't know if it is worth picking up. I always liked the art style and graphics for the game and the controls sound pretty unique. I was surprised to see that this game came from Koei.
Opoona is one of my favorite RPGs, right behind FFVII and Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door. I'm playing it right now, and it's freaking amazing. I was skeptical at first, too, but it's really, really good.
Everyone who even thinks there's a possibility they'll like this game, buy it! Seriously, it's really cheap since it wasn't popular, and it's one of the best games on Wii. This is my favorite Wii game besides No More Heroes, which is also has a severe cult following.
Yeah. I wasn't too fond of the main characters looks, But one or more of the enemys reminds me of Earthbound.
I think the choice of art style was perfect, and it lent a lot of personality to the game. The game wouldn't have been nearly the same without the art style they chose, and if you don't let it grow on you, the game just won't work. I don't think it would have been successful at all had they tried a more realistic art style. The personality would be gone, and the job system would feel much more pointless. I'm sure many people hated the job system and that's why Opoona didn't succeed, but I thought it was perfect.
it's awesome! as grenworthshero said, the artstyle really is perfect. there is sooooooooo much you can do beside the main plot. the whole job idea (and we are talkinng about REAL jobs, not like in Final Fantasy) is very well made. you got littel side storys EVERYWHERE.
But be aware, this game isn't really made for everyone. if you dislike just ok graphics, that quite hectic battle system or the sometimes rather bad cam, you should really play it a bit before.
i bought it for 9 euros and it is one of my favorites. best invested money big time.
I actually got it for free because I still had money on my Edge card at Gamestop from when I sold my wiimote covers and a crappy controller. How was I to know that a free game would be so amazing? NeoRausch is right, It's definitely not for everyone, but for those who can take its quirky humor, old-school RPG format, and somewhat frustrating, yet overly addicting nature, you'll be blown away.
I should be getting it in the post from GAME today or tomorrow; getting it upon advice from fellow NL'er Zane (I hope you didn't steer me wrong pal!). I'll also be reviewing it, so if it meets my demanding standards it'll hopefully get some more love!

oh yeah, cool! i would say on a normal reviewing level it's slightly above average. 'Cause the main gamplay and technical site of the grapgics arent that great. but what's normal. just play it long enough!
