I am guessing late 2009 early 2010 with wiimotionplus support

Wii : 5234 3442 0233 5325
3DS: 2664-2106-1671
I have A LOT of games, if you want to play something, just email me jangonov&#...

The series has been crap for a long time, so if there is a MP9 they had better have some new tricks up their sleeves.

Surely. I bet early or middle 2010 for a Japanese release.

I like Mario Party and don't know where the hate came from. If you use it solely for multiplayer parties it's great, just don't do the single-player thing or it could drive you mad. Give us a new one by Xmas Ninty, cheers!

Totally dependent on how long Mario & Sonic will last.

Mario Party will not see the light of day while that franchise is still going on.

Where do you get that idea? They are made be completely unrelated companies, after all, Hudson taking care of the Mario Party series and Sega developing the Olympics crossovers. I don't see any obvious reason that they would be scheduled around one another in any way.

Hudson has already said they're putting all their efforts into downloadable stuff and Nintendo doesn't want two Mario mini-game games going against each.

Heck, Sega wouldn't work on Mario when they know Hudson is about to release their huge mini-game collection, and vica-versa.

You think it's just a coincidence the first time we haven't heard about Mario Party in more than a decade is the same time Mario & Sonic springs up?

Yes. The two have no crossover whatsoever. They're a board game and an olympic game. I can't believe this is even a question, there is no way critical thought would bring someone to the conclusion that one is stopping the other.

Honest answer: It seems like they're just giving Mario Party a break. The big complaint for a long time was how fast it got sequels and made people bored with it. I think if it does come back, it may not even be a Mario game anymore, because the Mario mythos didn't do much for it. Even barely any of the minigames were inherently 'Mario' related. What would be different if it was a game with some new items and characters populating the boards and you play as Miis? Not a whole lot, and it would even have a chance to be refreshing since it wouldn't just be 'Oh look I landed on a Bowser space, here's Bowser, again. I bet here's here to cause some mischief again. Whoopee, it's the same set of items. Again.'

Mario Party has been pretty bad since about 6, the DS one was the worst in my opinion.
And I agree with AlexSays, if the Mario and Sonic series keeps going like it is, there probably won't be a new Mario Party for a while.

Yeah besides the whole thing about them being a mini-game collection with Mario as the star.

Alrighty then.

Nintendo was like "Oh Mario Party? Yeah we released one every year but now, for no random reason, we won't release another one and not make an easy several million"

That's exactly how it went, nothing to do with the other Mario mini game collection at all, nuh uh.

The current pause in releases isn't actually that unusual for the series, as shown here:

Untitled

Mario Party DS was easily one of the best entries in ages, and we also got our first motion controlled game that same year, so the gap doesn't, at present, seem all that surprising, however it will be a bit long if they don't release one by the holidays or early next year.

I'm not sure that I agree about Nintendo reigning in this series in order to grant the other sales / breathing room. It's possible, but I don't see Nintendo taking that role in this sort of situation. As far as Hudson backing off a bit, that's more likely, but hopefully isn't the case.

Even the weaker entries in the Mario Party series were far better than Mario & Sonic, IMO. I hope the latter series is the one to die off; I really can't fathom why Nintendo gave Sega the rights to do that in the first place.

So does Mario Tennis cut into the sales of Mario Golf? Do you think Red Steel 2 and Conduit will be at eachother's throats despite being nothing alike just because they're both first person and have some shooting? The two games are NOTHING ALIKE. Calling them both 'minigame' collections is just an excuse to not really think about 'Oh wait, one is a set of sports games, one is a board game primarily with the minigames being there to spice it up'.

Nintendo was like "Oh Mario Party? Yeah we released one every year but now, for no random reason, we won't release another one and make an easy several million"

There have always been ocassional breaks with Mario Party, as the poster above efficiently showed.

That's exactly how it went, nothing to do with the other Mario mini game collection at all, nuh uh.

Yes, I do believe the realistic examination ends up with a more likely explenation than a conspiracy theory that doesn't even make logical sense.

Did you make that just now Wario? That looks nice.

Anyway that shows it'd be the first time they've gone two years without any Party at all, and at the same time a new Mario mini-game collection has sold like crazy.

If people think that's a coincidence that's fine, I'd just be willing to bet anything, like usual, I'm right on this one.

So Wario, not only do you need to show me a DSi game not technically possible on the DS, but you have to come find me when Mario Party releases around the same time as Mario & Sonic.

We've had a topic on this. Sources tell me yes, it is coming. I'm actually surprised it wasn't announced at E3. Maybe Summer or Fall of this year we'll hear an announcement.

What a terrible example.

Two completely different sports.

Not this long, which the poster above has shown.

Believe what you want Wren. I'm just saying that's wrong, that's all.

Yeah, no examples, especially not the two year breaks between 3 and 4, and 7 and 8. No examples.

Oh, phew, thank goodness you're around then, what would we do without you?

Haha, are you kidding? Either the point flew about ten miles over your head, or you're trolling. You've made decent arguments in the past so you're not stupid, my money is on the latter, Sorry I fell for it.
