Topic: Hori's Gamecube-ish Wii Classic Controller, how good is it?

I'm thinking of getting this for use with a Mayflash PC USB adapter (the one that takes the Wii-mote plug end and allows two Classic Controllers at a time to be used as Windows HID devices), I don't know much about Hori's products but this looked pretty cool. But feel matters more than aesthetic, so I wanna know more details... preferably from someone who already has one so I can get a hands on opinion and not just guesses. I want to know how well this controller is for both 3D games and 2D platforming games. I've only ever played with a GC controller at a friends (Soul Calibur 2, Smash Brothers Melee), and other than having a ridiculously tiny Dpad, it seemed like a comfortable controller (for the games it was made for atleast).

I wanna know the following details so I may make an informed decision:

1: Dpad on the Hori appears to be larger than the original GC's, is it and how accurate is it for rotations / straight diagonals? (ie: left/up, left/down, right/up, right/down - can be tested in Zelda Link to The Past or any other overhead view RPG). Can you still comfortably play 2D platformer games with it in the placement it is in?

2: How tight are the analog sticks, no looseness (ie: wobbly tops, not enough resistance)?

3: Are 'Start Select and Home' metal clickers (like the stock Classic Controller) or are they normal rubber membrane buttons?

4: The Hori has normal circular shapes for the YXBA's instead of the wierd shapes of the original GC pad. They look a little bit closer together than they were on SNES, but I could be wrong and I can't find very good pics. How do those buttons feel for Super Mario World, where you'd hold Y to run and flex your thumb to hit B with the bottom part of your thumb without letting go of Y to maintain momentum?

5: How good do the L and R and zL / zR triggers feel? (I remember the one Z button on original Gamecube being somewhat stiff and feeling more like a metal clicker than an actual rubber membrane button)

man i wish i could say I had one of those...

In fact I might be able to say that soon. Just seeing those picture has me considering a purchase. I own 4 Hori devices and they're all top notch--only 3rd party hardware developer that gets the "springiness" of the buttons correct.

But no experience yet...I'll be watching this thread for answers too.

If you do end up getting it, try to answer my questions here. So far I only know of two other users on this forum who have one (JJ and Bulbasaurus Rex) but there is no Private Message option here that I can see, so I cannot ask them directly... u.u

Decided to get one from Ebay since it was $31 + $8 shipping, got it in the mail today (the UPS people decided to try and stuff it in the Apartment mailbox, rather than leave it in the office or try knocking on our door). Maybe I'm just super finnicky about controllers, but I feel a little dissapointed. The Start Select Home buttons are great, they're bubbled up buttons with good ole rubber contacts under them like the YXBA's, the Dpad, while slightly larger than an original Gamecube's Dpad, still is dwarfed in size by the stock flat Classic Controller's Dpad, or the SNES's (which is bigger still). The zL and zR buttons are indeed hard clickers, but that's what they were on the original GC pad that they were trying to mimmick, but if Hori had changed them to rubber contact buttons it would've been an improvement. And even though I wanted to give it the benefit of a doubt, the swapped Stick / Dpad arrangement is not as comfortable as I'd hoped and the left stick on mine felt a little loose compared to the right one. Dunno if that was manufacturing or if it had something to do with my mail service stuffing it into the mail box. Also, despite what a reviewer said on Amazon, the cord length on the Hori is not longer than the stock flat Classic Controller, they're actually the same length, or maybe I just got an earlier model, with a shorter cord I dunno. The extra length would've been nice but this thing was designed with the Wiimote in mind, and not my Mayflash adapter.
