I've got one - bought it online without knowing it was a chipped NTSC-J Wii and have kept it around to play Gradius Rebirth and Illmatic Envelope. Buying new Points for Japan-exclusive WiiWare stuff is too much of a pain at the moment, though.
No credit card? The Japanese Shop will take Visa/MC as long as the card originates in a country with it's own Wii Shop. I use my debit card with Visa logo from Nationwide; given that points are 1000 points for 1000 yen, it actually works out cheaper getting 3000 points on the Japanese Wii shop than buying a 3000 point card retail in the UK (and only marginally more expensive than getting them online: £21.47 for my last 3000 Japanese Wii points).
Well, that's certainly possible, I'd just rather not spend money on a console I plan to get rid of at the nearest possible moment. That and there aren't that many exclusive WW games that I care about, really.
Really? I find myself buying more WiiWare games on the Japanese machine than the PAL one lately. When I get those 6000 points I have coming due to the Amazon.co.uk card pricing screw-up I figure with the current drip-drip-drip rate of relase for VCA and other stuff of interest I'll be the rest of the year spending them -- if I'm lucky!
I've been tempted to get one, maybe when I get the money. I've got to read up on the exclusive Japanese games a bit more, though -- no point buying one if I wont enjoy the games. But it would be cool to own a Japanese Wii to go with my UK and US ones
I think the fact that most of the Japanese arcade and retro WiiWare stuff will come out first there would be enough incentive, but even I wouldn't contemplate a 3rd Wii (besides there aren't enough US exclusives to tempt me)!
Now if you like Mr. Driller, well, Drill Land would be all the incentive you need...
Just giving this a bump to see if anyone's lurking who has one; my dream would be to get a group of Yakuman Wii players together for virtual Mahjong sessions!
