Topic: Wii U worked seamlessly on my Wi-Fi but now longer detects it

I got a Wii U almost a year ago and never had any internet connectivity issues previously. I was able to identify and connect to my WiFi network without an issue. I purchased a bunch of games on the eShop before it went down and did system updates.

I hadn't booted the console up in a few months until recently when I noticed my WiFi network was no longer coming up on the device even though it is able to detect neighboring networks that are farther away without issue.

There is absolutely nothing different about my internet setup compared to when I set up the Wii U last year, and all my other devices can detect and use my WiFi network without a hiccup.

I haven't found a solution to this issue and I'm getting extremely frustrated.

> I tried powering the modem, router, and Wii U on and off. Nothing.

> I deleted previously saved internet preferences. Nothing.

> My external hard drive was not on top of the unit, but even I unplugged it completely and reattempted a WiFi connection. Nothing.

> Wii U accurately detects all other neighboring WiFi networks, just not mine.

> No other device (including 3DS and three Switches) has issues detecting and connecting to my WiFi network.

> My WiFi network is in the other room and I have not attempted a Wired connection. I don't think physical proximity is an issue because it wasn't before, and the Wii U can still detect other much farther WiFi networks - just not mine.

I've backed up all my data on my external hard drive and I am now considering factory resetting the Wii U. It worked seamlessly on my WiFi initially for months, and perhaps it will do so again with a factory reset. Is there any other community advice or proposed fixes before I try the factory reset?

It's possible that your router is using a channel that the Wii U can't see or has too much interference on it.

Nintendo recommend setting it to either channel 1 or 11. How to change it depends on your router but usually a case it's just a case of logging in via its web interface and picking from a drop down.

I don't think it's flat out died though. You wouldn't be able to see other networks if that was the case.

Bumping this topic because I haven't found a fix. I'm thinking about buying a whole new modem/router and seeing if that makes any difference.
