Nintendo has already said it's not coming. And if it is, it won't be soon.

That's what they said about 3DS. And NIntendo 64. Look how those turned out.
Nintendo is a business, and if they want the Wii U to be ultra-competitive, a price drop will happen. Unless, of course, if the other systems are at PS3-level costs, but I highly doubt that.

If the Wii U were to cost nearly half as much as the other systems, it would really steal a lot of thunder away from Microsoft and Sony, and show that they're very serious with the Wii U.

If Nintendo cuts the price I'm not convinced we'd see a huge surge in Wii U sales. When the 3DS came out I knew right away that it was too much for a handheld gaming console and that I wouldn't be buying it, but the Wii U is priced right. Even without a price cut it'll still be cheaper than the PS4 and the neXtbox. Personally I'd like to see Nintendo put out some attractive limited edition bundles instead.

...in my pants.

I'd argue for GCN having a great game since Smash Bros. Melee came out less than a month after launch (and still a few weeks before Christmas).

Sorry for not being clear. I was talking about day 1. As far as launch window goes, I think each system has done well. NES, Day 1 had Super Mario Bros. / Duck Hunt. Super Nintendo had Super Mario World. And N64 had Super Mario 64. All great games. Gamecube on day 1 had Luigi's Mansion. Wii on day 1 had a mini-game collection and a port of a gamecube game.

Concidering Nintendo's already selling this at a loss, I find it hard to believe so.
It really depends on how Microsoft and Sony price their products as well.

Once again, I'm not saying anything about a price drop right now. We're speculating when a price drop would happen, as it really is inevitable, even if it's years down the road.

I'll bet the deed to my house that Wii Sports sold more consoles than any title with the possible exceptions of Pong and GameBoy Tetris. Nothing against Nintendo Land, but if Wii U had a title with Wii Sports' wow factor we wouldn't have any threads of this type.

So... I take it you really liked Wii Sports? Because I'm pretty sure Wii Sports was pretty much the same for everyone. It was really cool at first, but got old fast. And I was saying that I, personally, haven't been too happy with the available games on day 1 of launch for the gamecube and wii consoles or their pack-in games. Whether or not they were successful is irrelevant to my personal preference.

Wii Sports is what got the Wii into nursing homes, Nintendo Land will not do that. I don't see how Nintendo missed that boat with the Wii U. Again, I'm all for more people owning the console, in the hopes that it gets a wide range of support, but I am very happy with the games so far and look forward to seeing what surprises are in store outside of the typical Zelda games. I just think Nintendo is having trouble managing their development/direction right now.

If they are as powerful as people claim they are.

I'll believe this when I see it. I honestly believe the next Microsoft console will be no more powerful than the Wii U. The nest Playstation? It could be their last.

I don't think the console needs a price drop as I think its a fair price in the UK. You can pick one up on play.com for £215
But what needs to happen ASAP is a reduction in the price of the games.
£55 quid is the most I have seen a game go for. That is ludicrous
I still have not met one person who actually owns one in the area where I live.
As sad as it is I think Nintendo have messed up with the Wii U.
I think people in the UK are turning to Microsoft for there gaming fix, it now caters for both hard core and family friendly games with kinect.
Personally I think kinect is terrible it's unresponsive and just plain awfu
I usually pop into my local GAME store once a week and I see everyone with Xbox 360 games but have never seen one person even looking at the shelf for Wii U games let alone queuing up to by one.
It's quite sad really as an avid Nintendo fan, even I think they have missed something with the Wii U.
