hey people. my wii u makes a slight clicking noise about every 10 minutes or so that i can notice when im playing virtual console games. it seems kind of random and i dont know what causes it. it sounds like just a small creak of a desk that happens when you have a video game console set up on it, but this is definitely coming from the wii u. i even picked it up off the desk to make sure. it sounds really benign, almost like a watch's tick, but louder, so i am not too worried, but i really want to know if other people can hear it when playing a a game that doesnt use the disc drive.

Don't worry about it. Mine has done that since launch and it's not a problem. The Xbox One does this, too. Everything does this. Things just settle from laying around for a while.

It might be that it's starting to spin the inserted game disc at that point or something.
Sounds normal to me.
Has this sound also occured when there's no disc in your drive?

Well, i haven't noticed something like that with my Wii U. Which isn't saying much though since recently i can't play often.
If there's an external HDD attached to your Wii U it might be from that.

the other guy said he did, and also i noticed a similar noise from my ps3 when playing playstation classics. seems like a noise that it might make while loading that is usually drowned out by the disc drive

It just happens. Even when the console is off. It does it. The Wii U creates heat from normal use, and parts are constantly touching each other. Your house creaks every once a while. It's just as much of a problem as that; or your desk like you said. Gravity, heat and electricity are constantly happening inside with a bunch of parts screwed together. A creak every now and then isn't anything to be worried about.
