hello everyone, I am a gamer who enjoyed the days of the snes: super Mario world, donkey kong country 1,2 & 3, metriod, n64: banjo kazooe , Mario kart wii donkey kong country returns wii.

I am not a hard core gamer and struggled with zombie u, was just wondering what game I should download as the free one from Mario kart 8 promo - I have the Mario one. I am tempted by sonic, pikmin and Zelda - never played any of the latter two are they easy enough for a 'poor' gamer and enjoyable? and not so sure on sonic? help

''Mario kart wii donkey kong country returns wii'', this sounds like an exciting game!

Anyway, you haven't struggled with DK Country Returns? If not, I don't see why Wind Waker or Pikmin 3 should be a problem. Both are great. I never thought of Wind Waker as particulary difficult, there's a challange, but definitely not difficult. Pikmin 3 provides more of a challenge, but in the end, it's really up to you, as there's a time limit for every day. Do you want to take it easy and take your time, or do you want to rush everything? It's entirely up to you.

I'd say Wind Waker, as it's an amazing Zelda game, and since you haven't played it, you really shouldn't miss this opportunity. I received my copy of Wind Waker HD today, even though I just finished to original again, I couldn't wait another year. Also, Pikmin 3 is cheaper, so perhaps it's better to get a free copy of Wind Waker, and buy Pikmin 3 as a separate game if you're willing to get both.

Never was a fan of Sonic, probably never will be.

Get Pikmin 3, it's one of the games that needs more from Wii U owners as it's fantastic.

Pikmin is a nice game, but in some places the puzzles are very hard. Wind Waker has a nice big open world, but requires strategy. Sonic (have only played demo) has a weird button layout and is mostly stuck to a track, no free exploration, but has free dlc. So, I would suggest Wind Waker.

Do you like videogames? If so, you must know

Try the free Sonic demo to judge it for yourself though personally I thinks it's underwhelming but for me Pikmin 3 & Zelda Wind Waker & Wonderful 101 are the stand out games on offer. Here's how I break them down;

Pikmin 3, lots of fun and offers something different to the other Wii U games
Wonderful 101, the Wii U's best action game but has a learning curve with the controls, there's a free demo to try first
Zelda Wind Waker, arguebly the best Zelda game but will depend if you like the past games or not and if you haven't played one before you may aswell give it a whirl now.

Actually, Sonic Lost World is a game you will keep going back to again and again when you harness its awesomeness... Pikmin & Windwaker are boring after you finish them and don't offer any substantial replayability

I'd guess Pikmin 3 in your case. It seems like the games you enjoy are less about story and more about core gaming. Wind Waker generally have a pretty slow pace and is very much driven by the story. Pikmin 3 is more about the gameplay, although the single-player campaign also has a story (but a much simpler story than in WW). Both are very good games, but also very different. Pikmin 3 also have some brilliant 2-player modes (co-op and bingo battle) that are really fun.

I haven't played Sonic long enough to be able to judge it well. I personally liked Mario 3d world and DK: tropical freeze more.

@MAB: Pikmin 3 has a lot of replayability in the non-campaign game play and the DLC. I've played more than 110 hours in Pikmin 3 by now.

Pikmin 3. Great campaign, fun multiplayer mode, and lots of stuff to do after beating the campaign.

Currently Playing: Yakuza Kiwami 2 (SD)

Pikmin 3... That's if you're into doing repetitive mundane tasks after beating the extremely short main campaign

Not really. The challenges that come with the game are pretty good, but the DLC is execellent. I highly recommend you get Pikmin 3 as your free game, it's one of the best Wii U games.
