Topic: Sorting your Wii U digital software?

Hey folks, I've a quick question for those of you with external storage for your Wii U. I've recently picked up an extra 64GB to go with my console's 32GB, and I was wondering if there's any type of software you keep in the internal storage, or anything you specifically keep on an external drive? I'm keeping my sava data for retail games in the internal storage, but beyond that, not sure what to do with the rest, if anything.

I know it's trivial - just interested!

When you hook the external storage up to the Wii U, it will prompt you to format it. Once you have done this, the drive can only be used for Wii U software. You probably already knew that, but just making sure so there's no regrets.

I keep everything in the external storage. Picked up a 2TB drive so I could go 100% digital for this generation.

The Wii U system itself I will reserve entirely for patches, Wii software, and stuff like that.

I suggest keeping disc based patches and non-game software on the console's HDD(Netfilx, YouTube, UPlay, Wii Street U, etc.). There were a few times where Netflix wouldn't load, or Call of Duty Black Ops 2 tried to access a patch it needed and wouldn't work.

Otherwise, just put whatever you want on it. I've already used around 100GB on my 2TB ext. HDD.

@SCAR392 - Yeah, that's what I was thinking of doing, keeping apps and disc-based stuff on the system itself and just throwing everything else in the external drive.

As far as the drive I got, I rebelled against Nintendo's advice (me, of all people!) and actually bought a flash drive, mainly because it was cheap and because it'd have come in handy for the computer if it didn't work on the Wii U. As it is, it works perfectly - it's an Xporter Pulse (64GB) by Patriot and it costs £18/€21 (though I bought it for £15 when it was on offer). Yeah, I know I could have bought a decent external HDD for around £40, but I don't need one right now.
