Microsoft will ditch the console market (too expensive, lack of exclusives), Sony will win the generation but lose money, and this gen will be like the GameCube gen for Nintendo: slow console sales, but handheld keeps them alive. A new challenger will enter the ring next gen.
I think the three will have to adapt their respective business models. Unless the economy really takes off in the near future, to the extent that spending $60 or more is no big deal, it's going to be hard for these three to compete with what is about to come out from Apple and/or Google. My guess is that they will have Smart TV's that allow interfaces with your tablet(s).
