Nintendo had reiterated that they are not against free to play games... at least from third parties. While Nintendo said that they don't want to produce any free to play games unless they come up with concepts that fit, they would welcome other third party free to play games.

This got me to think about how games like Nexon's Vindictus and MapleStory, Red Duck's Alliance of Valiant Arms (A.V.A.), and Crytek's upcoming Warface could work on the Wii U. For the last two, I think that they could implement Wii Remote + Nunchuk controls, the ability to plug in your own keyboard / mouse via USB (for all free to play games), AND the option to use the GamePad. Vindictus and MapleStory would... well just work on a controller. Hell, Vindictus supports external controllers. Yeah, there will a bunch of hotkeys missing and the inability to type in what you want to say easily, but just use a headset to communicate with your buddies and the GamePad as your controller. :P

Go nuts. :)

Games I'm getting: The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD

Favorite Game: Super Metroid (SNES) / Mother 2 (SNES) / RuneScape (PC)
Playing: RuneScape

Nothing interesting happens.

If Maplestory happens I may get back into it...

Let me tell you about Homestuck...
How can you hope to out-leave me when I've already left?

I don't see what's with all the hype of MapleStory, but whatever. I guess I'll try it again to see why it's so loved by many.

I hope this doesn't happen. All this F2P crud is going to start ruining the games industry. I don't want to be nickled & dimed, just so I can make the most out of the game. Just let me pay a one time fee (which has been working fine for the past three decades), and enjoy the game.

3DS FC: 2148-8154-0538

Currently Playing:
Super Metroid (Wii VC)
the King of Fighters XIII (360)
Legend of the River King GBC (3DS VC)

Than don't play the game. There are a ton of good F2P games.

DOTA 2
Team Fortresses 2
League of leagends
Mass effect 3 (not free to play but uses microtransactions)

I think what we'd all like to see are the FTP games that are already available on PC with cross-platform features, but unfortunately for a lot of favorites, that can't happen.

See games like TF2 and LoL requires precision that only a mouse can provide. Or at least shooter, maybe if MOBA style games use solely the screen it would be on par, but otherwise the person on the controller would be at a severe disadvantage.
I'd certainly like to see TF2, but if it happens it will be in a new gamemode that revolves around movement and not aiming, or not cross-platform.

I'd love to see Spiral Knights or Realm of the Mad God though. Perhaps even some new awesome ones.

May I present to you Vindictus? :D

Also, RuneScape (stay with me, please, lol) was still a fun experience, membership or not.

Aiming precisely in a FPS? Let me also introduce Counter-Strike: Global Offensive on PS3. That game allows you to plug in any keyboard / mouse as an alternate controller. Just let stuff like that into free to play games, and everything would be all fine and dandy. B-)

Plus, Team Fortress 2 is already on the PS3 and 360. It's called The Orange Box. :P

As for me, I'll be playing Vindictus, RuneScape, and Warface. :)

Nintendo makes a Mario-themed version of those Smurf Village/ Simpsons Tap & Go games where you build houses and populate a village with Nintendo characters.

Nintendo becomes wealthy beyond belief.

Yes, but you can't expect everyone to go out and buy a USB mouse and keyboard to be on par with other players. Sure, I'd love that option, but people don't get a Wii U to plug in PC accessories to play a PC game.
And Valve couldn't do anything with the Orange Box version of TF2 because of Microsoft's horrid updating policy that costs tons of money, and I'm sure PS3 suffered the same fate. That, and it wasn't cross-platform anyway. Sure, it would work independently, but when you let multiple play options into it it just turns into a mess of problems, including integrating options like FoV which would again put consoles at a disadvantage because they're not supposed to be face-to-face with the screen, but on a chair or couch several feet away.
I wish it didn't have these problems, as I love TF2, Tribes Ascend, and a more recent game Super Monday Night Combat, but I can't see developers being able to overcome these issues without rewarding/hindering one of the platforms. I'd love to be proven wrong.

I actually haven't heard anything on CS:GO's cross-platform other than 'it's happening' and that was ages ago. What is the status on that? (legitimate question)

Valve cut out crossplatform play from CS:GO because it wouldn't be possible to update the PS3 version as often as the PC version.

They don't think it be like it is, but it do.

...Minecraft isn't free to play, and could never be updated as frequently as the PC version to promote cross-platform. Way too much manpower and probably wouldn't even be the same programming language.

Sure it'd be good for sales, but I've seen enough of it for a few years.

I'm sorry, but before I jump into this F2P concept, could somebody give me a quick generalisation of what free-to-play games are like? I have an idea of it, but being human, I find it appealling to avoid making an utter moron of myself at every possible moment.

Let us not judge a man by the colour of his skin, but by the character he chooses to battle with in Brawl.
