There's no violence in multiplayer COD??? The hell?

Woops, I meant to copy "mature subjects", not violence. Thanks for pointing that out. (:

I didn't know Nintendo had any mature game exclusives for the Wii U.

No million sellers because nothing outside of New SMB U and Nintendo Land are million sellers yet. Small install base etc, etc. The third best selling title on Wii U right now however is Zombi U which is both a "mature" game and a Wii U exclusive.

Plus as far as mature games go the Wii U has gotten the first game with new R18+ rating in Australia.... not the first to actually GET a game with the rating but the first to be rated. Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge, it did appear on the 360 and PS3 here first by a couple of weeks and it was beaten by Mortal Kombat which finally got a release here on the PS3/360... but still, R18+ games for the first time. Wii U is there with the other platforms now.

What is more important for me is not how well a game sells but the number of mature titles available for a console.

Neither of these things are important. As a console owner isn't the ONLY metric worth considering the "rate of good games I'm interested in being released"? Who cares if they release a game that's both family friendly and a poor seller if it's something you're into. If Capcom made a HD version of Tatsunoko vs. Capcom for the Wii U I'd be a lot more interested in that over Mortal Kombat for example. Despite the fact that the latter is significantly more "mature" and sold something like 7x the amount of units on the 360/PS3 than TvsC did being a Wii exclusive.

Guys, just to clear up any misunderstanding, if you read my top post properly you will see that I wrote "this is not always the case"

My main point is that a game like metroid other m was seen as a flop when resistance 3 didn't do much better in terms of sales.
I am in no way saying these are inferior games, I really like all the games I have listed above, and would like to see them receive sequels.

Singularity 2 anyone ?

But I would also love to see a conduit 3, redsteel 3, madworld 2, no more heroes 3, THOTD overkill 2.

But we won't due to poor sales and the perception that mature games sell less on nintendo consoles, leading to developers not wanting to take the same risk with mature titles on nintendo consoles, the same reason sega refused to publish the grinder for HVS.

But you will never hear publishers saying that mature games don't sell on HD consoles, When I have just proved otherwise.

Also all COD games (besides MW3) on wii broke the 1 million mark, and sold roughly the same amount of copies as Killzone and resistance.

BO2 was a wii u launch title, and came out almost a whole month after the other versions, not to mention that people were skeptical over the DLC getting a wii u release.
Then activision say they are not happy with wii u sales of BO2

for it's first month on sale did you know that COD world at war sold more copies on the wii than the PS3.

Another thing that didn't do the wii any favors was that half of the older wii gamers that wanted these mature games knew how to get them for free, if you know what I mean.

Well, "mature" (more like glorified violence directed against teenagers) games are in the majority so there is a lot of games that is sentenced into the shadows of the market. The games that tends to be more succesful, like Call of Duty, is also a game that attracts the certain kind of "dudebro-teenager" that is more likely to have a Xbox at home (due to the "cool" factor), there for these games also have a tendency to sell more on those platforms - quite simple.

It doesnt seem like the Nintendo-base (a lot of it being family, but talking about the other part(s)) is as facile and is more likely to demand a bit more. For an example the Timesplitters-games sold more on Gamecube then on other platforms despite it having a smaller userbase.

I think the broader argument you're making is fair enough (Nintendo gamers aren't a different "type" of gamer) but I think you're missing the point. I don't think it's the case that developers think "mature titles" don't sell on Nintendo's hardware. I think it's more of a case of the people interested in the sort of production values associated with the "core mature" games didn't buy the Wii version. Because the Wii was standard definition, didn't have the online infrastructure it's competitors did and had an unconventional control scheme.

The Wii U solves all of those problems... just before a new set of consoles are on their way. Where this goes depends on how interested consumers are in pushing the visuals further than the HD generation and at what cost. If Nintendo gets some steam with first party and third party stuff at the end of the year it'll become interesting again. At that point don't be shocked if "mature" games end up being some of the best selling content on the Wii U. Right now it's hard to tell what direction the consoles will take.

................ what won't happen is the death of the Nintendo to be replaced by the Ouya as suggested by some

Nope, I only like mature games. I played my share of kids stuff since the early 80's, but now all I want is ultraviolence. To each their own

I'd rather see Nintendo get more mature games, in the sense of story and character depth.

Zombi U and monster hunter 3 ultimate, I know it's only 2 games but a) they are both great and b) the console is still very new.

And we have bayonetta 2 on the way, metroid prime 4 (retro's secret project I hope), 2 zelda games, deus ex directors cut, xenoblade 2 and UBI soft have already said they want to make a zombi u sequel.

So if you had a choice between a game in a genre you liked with a style that looked cool and a new take on some interesting subject.... and the game equivalent of a B grade gore porn... you'd go for the latter? Yeah, I don't get where you're coming from and I'm not sure if you're serious. To each their own indeed.
