Still have the thing plugged on, enjoy nintendoland here and there with the kids and Wii sports club. Best way to play pikmin 3. It’s a two in one so the old wii can be the only console I don’t have plugged in. We need a Mario vs donkey kong on switch

We don't stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing.

There’s definitely games where the WiiU version is superior. Wonderful 101 and Lego City Undercover come to mind.

Unpopular opinion ahead... Devil's Third is really underrated. Played the digital version out of curiosity, honestly, I don't regret playing it.

Though, I do like and still play with my Wii U, was playing it the other day too.

I miss virtual console, while Switch Online's NES and SNES selection is a nice bonus, I'm mainly paying it to play online. Once Switch Online services end, I won't be able to play those games anymore. At least VC games will stay on the console, after the eShop closes down. There's no option to even buy NES or SNES games I like for keeps.

That also reminds me, Wii U has free online multiplayer, just like when I play on my PC, the way it should be.

The resident Trolls superfan! Saw Trolls Band Together via early access and absolutely loved it!

But I will say that Wii U does have a couple things over it with games that are unlikely to be easily put into the Switch such as DS VC and Wii (although we have seen Skyward Sword remastered and Galaxy was also re-released)

I think we will start to see more Wii games make the transition to Switch. The question will be how many and what price. Practically I don't think it's realistic to have them grouped under one icon like the current classic games. The compressed/trimmed backup I've made of my Wii collection works out to be ~2GB/game, they can't ask people to download 60GB+ of games under one icon. But as individual titles made available? They have a decent emulator already and the JoyCons can reasonably replicate a WiiMote and technically the original controllers are already compatible, it's an easy win.

But yeah, DS I can't see happening. It worked on the Wii U because the GamePad could do the job of the second screen. On the Switch but the only way you could do that would be by buying a second screen. In theory a second Switch could do it for when playing on TV and in portable mode you just display both screens. But that's still a bit of a clunky solution

I think we end up getting GB, GBA via NSO as it currently is. Then there's a slim but realistic chance we get Wii/GC as a one-game-at-a-time deal similar to what we had with the VC. I don't think we'll ever see DS or 3DS make their way to Switch outside of very, very occasional remasters

Wii U has XCX. Argument invalid.

Just sell it or give it to someone that would appreciate the console
