you can use disc. The Wii U will then boot into Wii Mode and you can play them there. You can even download WiiWare games in Wii Mode too.
Ah I see. I havent heard much talk about people playing metroid prime 3 corruption that was originally on wii on the wii u. Can you play it that game on the wii u? Along with resident evil 4?

@radagasttt: Some Wii games purchased on the eShop that use the classic controller can be played off TV with the Wii U gamepad. (Xenoblade Chronicles was amazing like this!)
I never drive faster than I can see. Besides, it's all in the reflexes.
It's also possible to rip all your Wii games to an external hdd and play them via the virtual Wii on your Wii U, but you do have to make some 'unauthorised' modifications to the system software for that to work.
