Okay I'll start by saying the Wii U has been nothing but a pain in the A** for me since I got it.
I don't wanna bring everything up as it will take too long, but I wondered if someone could help me with my current issue.
I can play games off my external hard drive perfectly, but when I put a disc in the console, I'll click "launch game" for example I was wanting to play warriors orochi 3 hyper, so I clicked the little log of Yukimura and Zhao Yuns head and pressed play and up come a picture of them both and it said WARRIORS OROCHI 3, had a little wii u loading thing in the corner and the console was loading the disc, 5 seconds later everything STOPS!
It doesn't proceed any further, the music carries on playing, I can eject the disc and turn the gamepad off, the console itself freezes and the only way to turn that off is by unplugging it from the back.
I eventually bought the game anyway on the E shop as I was desperate for it and it works fine on my hard drive.
I've read online people saying their wii u's have come up "disc read error" but that isn't the case with mine it just does nothing!
I tried unplugging the hard drive and loading it without, didn't work.
I just installed the newest update and thought it might fix it if it was a software issue, but straight after the update I restarted, put the disc in and again, nothing, just stays on the warriors orochi 3 hyper screen.

Any idea what this could be? Really don't fancy sending the console off
If all games will be sold on the E shop I'm more then happy living without the disc drive, if nintendo give me some money.
So yeah, there's my question, thanks all

Ya it's just your Wii U. No design or function issues on Nintendo's part either, just probably a faulty disc drive from the factory, or wrong installation.

Im going to format the main hard drive and then reinstall all the updates, maybe that will kick something into shape Thanks for the reply!

So, your gonna have to call Nintendo, tell them your problem so they can help you, and if they can't, you gonna have to send it for fixing or replacement parts. Your eShop purchases will be yours still.

You will lose your eShop games maybe if you format the HDD, unless the eShop acount is linked to your Nintendo ID. Just call Nintendo!

My E shop downloads are actually on my external hard drive, not the consoles main hard drive
Are all Wii U games being released on the E shop?

Is that game fun BTW? I saw the video, but is there online co-op, DLC, and cool features?

Yes it's a lot of fun I've been following the warriors games since I was 10 (10 years ago haha) it's the biggest one yet, though thanks to the Wii U's crappy CPU and KOEI's terrible team, there is a few frame rate issues, apparently buying the disc has a lot more lag then installing it to hard drive!
If you enjoy tonnes of playable and unique characters, with unique moves and weapons, one VS one modes and collectables, get this game!
You'll get months of fun if you do all the right stuff

Yes, most games, but not all are being released on the HDD, but Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 isn't. I do prefer getting games from the eShop to have the games not being run off a disc which is faster, and having all the games on the menu at once, but formatting your Wii U HDD will make those games unplayable on your console, unless your Nintendo ID saves those purchases, but no one knows except Nintendo.

Ya. It's pretty much the same as Dynasty Warriors, right?

How do I find out my E shop account details?
I know my Nintendo online game name is PinguKid, but where can I find my information?

Ya, I saw that on the video... seems pretty cool. Just make sure you call Nintendo about disc reading problems, and deleting your HDD to reinstall everything.

There's account details in the eShop somewhere, but no one knows for sure whether your Nintendo ID saves your purchases on more than one system, at the same time, or at all if you system dies.

So what you're saying is, I might lose my money if I have to re format my Hard Drive? are you kidding Nintendo can't do that!

strikerdes

SCRAPPER392

Well, if you delete your account on 3DS or Wii, they're gone forever. If you call Nintendo, and give them your account details and such, they'll hold it for you to reformat your system usually, or try and fix the problem, but you have to let them know. It's probably just the disc drive too, so if you do have to send it in, that's all they'll replace without touching any other part of the console, and if they do delete it, they'll make sure you get the games you paid for back. Nintendo isn't really good at remotely giving people accounts for some reason...

Oh okay, that's fine then
Thank you for all your help, what's your nintendo network ID?
I'll add you incase you buy WO3 hyper, we can play online sometime if you like

My Nintendo Network ID is Children. I know it might sound weird to have as an ID, but it's in all good intents, and was a group effort in naming. I actually shut off friend requests, because there's too many random people that want to play all the time and chat. It's nothing personal, just keeping to myself that's all! I've already heard enough about my ID online, and don't plan on adding friends on my Wii U.
