Topic: Dem' DKC Tropical Freeze Time Trials

Hello everyone. My name is Jaxon and I'm an addict. A DKC time trials addict, that is. So, I've always been a big DKC fan. Loved the original trilogy and absolutely adored DKC Returns. Naturally, I was pretty excited to hear about DKC Tropical Freeze. What I didn't expect however, was to get sucked into this never-ending prison of time trials. After beating the game I thought I'd give it a go and test out the video upload feature. So I ran a few stages and posted my videos for friends to see. What happened after that, well.....

I happened to run into a fellow Nintendolife member on Miiverse, who recognized my user name, and he was also running time trials. As one would expect, a little friendly competition ensued. One-upping the other led to countless hours running single stages, even to the point of utter obsession. Before long, I actually started getting really good. I ran all 6 temples at 10 seconds+ ahead of gold. My rankings started jumping from the 600's to the 300's, to the 100's, and eventually the top 50's. I now sit at the fourth best time trial run in the world for 6-K (arguably the hardest level in the game, it's the final temple), and incidentally THE top run in the world without taking damage for 6-K. I've ranked 13th on 6-1, and countless rankings from 20th-50th in various other temples and stages...

The thing is, I can't seem to stop. The video upload feature was a stroke of PURE GENIUS. I never ran time trials in DKC Returns because, well, no one could see them. But now, now I've got a reason to run time trials. It's all about bragging rights and showing off that latest run where you used the technical physics of the game to shortcut half the stage. It's all about watching others' runs and learning from them, all the while uploading your own runs for others to learn from you.

I must admit, the time trials and video uploads are easily the best part of the game. And the game was ALREADY a 10/10 in my book. This just pushes it into "epic" and "legendary" territory. Once you start, it's really hard to stop. I consistently stay up til 2am perfecting that latest temple run, stopping and restarting any time a mistake is made. That feeling you get when you top your old time and rank among the best in the world... it's indescribable. I know I can't be the only one. Who else has found DKC time trials to be their drug of choice?

The Time Trials are amazing and addictive, but for what it's worth, I'm more hooked on Hard Mode. I've always been a rage gamer, so this is a no-brainer for me.
