Topic: What kind of gamer are you?

I'm A Hardcore gamer! i play games all the way through! and get extras but also wen i get an rpg i beat that one before i get another one and unlike the peoples who have tons of games i only get 1 a month at the must but im going to break that rule this september. 3 in one month lol mario luigi bowser's inside story scrriblenauts and kh 358/2 days ima get this september !!

I'm the kind of gamer that plays a game until right up to the final boss and then stops playing. I guess I just never want a game to end.

@Stuffgamer......Let me clear this up for everyone.....You are HardCore as hell Ive seen your trophies on PS3 lol. You have some insane hard Platinum trophies that only a hardcore gamer would kill thereselves for.

Me, I land in the hardcored zone myself. I have a prob with buying more games before I finish up another with the exception of Fallout 3. 120hrs straight until I hit my Platinum trophy on that one I love 2D anything usually. I like scmups as Corbie says. I also am a racing fanatic. My current addiction is Ferrari Challenge on PS3. Its a hardcore racing simulator full of Ferraris. I also like RPGs and some shooters (Bioshock and Farcry). I mainly play games for the challenge but somethimes I do enjoy a good casual game to change pace such as Starfy (11 hrs into that one). I do tend to get EVERYTHING in casual games, guess is that core kicking in or something.

Whoa, watch it, buddy! I view "hardcore" with negative connotations, and would appreciate it if people did not refer to me as such. Why, you may ask? Because my taste in games is far more varied that the stereotypical "hardcore" idiots who generally only care about the latest high-power ultra-violent shooter.

What I WOULD call myself is a dedicated gamer who loves a wide variety of titles (barring certain types, but still, it's wide by a relative degree) and happens to like earning Trophies a bit too much.

I am not sure because i am not a casual because, im not a hardcore.
Once i saw some guy say "New definition of Hardcore gamers: Crybabies that always think they know whats best for the company they like."

At the end of the day I play games for fun, but with RPGs and other brilliant games that just take control of my mind I feel I NEED to beat them to perfection. Also, I like a game with loads of sidequests, bonus content, extra game modes and the freedom to explore a vast area/world. Like the Harry Potter games - they suck (mostly) but I love exploring Hogwarts, finding all the secret rooms/passages etc.

@Stuffgamer1.....LOL sorry man. You are just exactly what I consider to be a TRUE Hardcore Gamer. That is a compliment too. I am the same way. I Hate the Uber Violent, SEX, Vulgar to make games. To me that is NOT Hardcore thats just giving people their sick obsessions pleasure. Just my opinion. I consider any gamer that likes to play games for a main hobby to be a core gamer. AYE that sounds better, Im goin with that one. Im a CORE GAMER.

@slapshot82: Yeah, there you go. I have nothing against the term "core gamer." Even Nintendo uses it to refer to their long-time fans!

@Stuffgamer1....LOL Im glad you found that one. Im sticking with that for myself now as well. The term Hardcore was basically anyone playing Ninja Gaiden, Contra, etc. when I was younger so Ive always kinda stuck with the term hardcore but its so overused nowadays. Kinda in contradiction to to my earlier post i found GTA4 for PS3 this past weekend for $5 so I picked it up and was suprised to find that the main charater is alot more reformed than previous titles and a LOT of the crap in the games is not a necessity to complete the game. Couldnt pass it for $5.

I like everything. Although I'm a huge fan of bright, colorful platformers, I also love games that are really dark and creepy. I don't think that there's a genre of gaming that I don't like. It just depends on what kind of mood I'm in

I'm the type of games that enjoys playing games...whenever I get the chance to play (which is not all that much as I have 2 small kids).

This question really struck me, I don't know what kind of gamer I am!, so lets see... I like all kinds of games, but sports, and I love platformers; there have been big periods of time when I've just played casually, then I found a good game I want to complete 100% and play it to dead and several times. Also, I am a collector, so I used to buy too many games, some of them just to have them and barely play them, that was until my family got some financial issues, and now is hard to keep up, so I'm starting to look on to the bunch of games I've collected (there are some I've just played once ), and try to at least finish some of those.
Since I've played videogames regularly all my life (since I was 4, I think), I consider it my main hobby, and there are games I am quite good at, so I think CORE GAMER (btw good term slapshot82), may fit me somehow, but I'm not such a completionist, and sometimes I just abandon games for several reasons.

@Twilight Crow..... Dont feel bad about not finishing games. I do the same thing with buying for collection reasons and only playing a few times. I just registered at Backloggery.com and OMG at the games I never finished. It caused a huge overwhelming feeling inside me AND I only registered my handhelds LOL. I do like the Core Gamer term because the Hardcore really means squat anymore. You definately fit the mold in my opinion.

I know what you mean. I'm still in highschool and I don't have a job so it's hard for me to support all the little 3rd Party titles that I'd like to play, and I mostly end up buying first-party Nintendo games. Good thing they're always amazing!

Thanks, I feel better , also that's the reason I don't want to register at Backloggery, I have so many games that it would be a lot of work, just to show off how many games I haven't finished .

I don't know if i'm a hardcore gamer, but i know that i'm a stonergamer.
Chilling with some dudes and do wat we do best.
